2014 SEASON IN REVIEW:  The Trojans finished their 2014 season with an overall record of 21-28, 6-10 in North Star Athletic Association conference games and 10-10 in NSAA/Frontier conference games.  Dakota State fell short in a pair of postseason games in the NAIA Unaffiliated NSAA/Frontier Baseball Conference Tournament in Valley City, N.D.  The Trojans dropped an 8-7 11-inning thriller over host-team Valley City State (N.D.) and were eliminated by No. 25-ranked Jamestown (N.D.) 8-3 in the next round.  Zac Smith was named to the inaugural North Star Baseball First-Team All-Conference last season.  Smith bossed an earned run average of 1.63 for the Trojans.  He finished the 2014 season with a 4-1 pitching record in 11 appearances, starting in nine games.  Smith gave up 19 runs (9 unearned runs) in a total of 55 1/3 innings pitched.  He allowed 53 hits and held the opponents' batting average to .255.  He struck out a total of 29 batters and only gave up 12 walks.
