MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) never trailed in the game Saturday evening at DSU Fieldhouse, finishing their regular-season schedule with a 75-64 victory over Dickinson State (N.D.) in the North Star Athletic Association Men's basketball conference action.  With the victory, the Trojans earned a share of the NSAA conference regular-season title – their first NSAA conference regular-season title in school history – with Jamestown (N.D.) with a 7-3 record.

Dakota State raised their overall record to 14-14.  Dickinson State fell to 11-16 overall record and 3-7 NSAA conference record. 

It was the third overall conference regular-season title in Dakota State men's basketball program history (1967 and 1991 in the former South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference).

The Trojans quickly scored the first four points in the first 49 seconds of the game for a 4-0 lead (a pair of baskets from Bryant Allen and Derek Meger).

After DaSU hold a 13-7 lead, the Blue Hawks used a 9-3 run to earn the first tie of the game at 16-16 with 10:38 left in the first-half. 

From there, Dakota State roared with a 17-2 scoring outburst to grab a 33-18 lead with 6:14 remaining before intermission.  The Trojans nailed down five 3-pointers during the scoring run – 3 by Adam Hofer and 2 by Allen.

Dickinson State would cut Trojans' lead in single digit at 33-24, but DaSU closed with a 12-3 scoring in the last 3:56 of the first-half to gain a 45-27 halftime lead.

Dakota State shot 56.3 percent from the field (18-of-32) in the first twenty minutes, including 6-of-14 from the 3-point line.  Dickinson State was 44.4 percent from the field (12-of-27) and 3-of-12 3-pointers.

The Trojans maintained their double digit lead for the rest of the second-half, recording their biggest lead of the game at 67-41 with 9:29 remaining.

The Blue Hawks outscored the Trojans 37-30 in the second-half.

Four Dakota State players scored in double-digits, led by Allen with 20 points.  Hofer had 16 points.  Miguel Sansavour tallied 15 points.  Hofer and Sansavour each went 6-of-10 shooting from the field.  Meger had 11 points.  Nathaniel Rauen and Taylor Zirbel each scored four points off the bench.

Cameron Robinson pulled down six rebounds and dished a game-high nine assists for the Trojans.  Hofer and Rauen each had five rebounds.  Sansavour had four assists.  Hofer recorded three assists.

Sansavour and Robinson each stole the ball three times for DaSU.  Meger and Rauen each had two steals.

Meger and Sansvour each had a blocked shot for the Trojans.

Tevin Russell led the Blue Hawks with 18 points.  Connor Donaldson had 14 points.  Jacob Gondrezick scored 13 points.

Russell earned eight rebounds for DiSU.  Keeton Tucker had four rebounds.

Donaldson produced three assists for Dickinson State.  Gondrezick and Russell each had two steals.

Dakota State shot 50 percent overall from the field (29-of-58) compared to Dickinson State 47.4 percent (27-of-57).  Both teams made seven 3-pointers in the game.

DaSU went to the free-throw line 18 times, making 10 free-throws (55.6 percent).  DiSU was 3-of-9 free-throws (33.3 percent).

The Trojans outrebounded the Blue Hawks 34-32. 

Dakota State honored their three seniors – Allen, Robinson and Sansavour – prior to the game.

Both teams will meet again in the quarterfinal action of the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Postseason Conference Tournament on Thursday evening.  Dakota State is the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, while Dickinson State is the No. 5 seed.  Tip-off from the DSU Fieldhouse is slated for 7 p.m. in Madison, S.D.
