THIS WEEK:  The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan Baseball team (0-4 overall record) returns back to action as they kick off their 11-game schedule in the Tucson (Ariz.) Invitational, starting on Friday (March 6) against Grace (Ind.).  The Trojans will be staying in Tucson until March 16 before returning home for a home doubleheader versus Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on March 19 at Flynn Field in Madison, S.D.

TUCSON (Ariz.) INVITATIONAL GAMES SCHEDULE:  Dakota State will play a total of 11 games in the Tucson (Ariz.) Invitational Games from March 6 through March 15.  All 11 games will be played at the Kino Sports Complex.  The Trojans kick off the Tucson Invitational with a 9-inning game on Friday (March 6) in a nine-inning game versus Grace (Ind.).  DSU continues their action on Saturday (March 7) in a doubleheader versus Central Methodist (Mo.).  After taking a day off on Sunday (March 8), Dakota State returns back to action on Monday (March 9) in a nine-inning game against Briar Cliff (Iowa).  The Trojans then will play two straight doubleheaders versus Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on March 10 and Antelope Valley (Calif.) on March 12.  DSU faces Dordt (Iowa) on March 13 for a nine-inning game and continues with another nine-inning games versus Minot State (N.D.)—former Dakota Athletic Conference foe—on March 14 and Hastings (Neb.) on March 15. 

TROJANS OPENED 2015 SEASON IN OKLAHOMA:  The Trojans could not get a victory in their season opening games in Oklahoma City on Feb. 14-15 against a pair of NCAA Division II opponents.  Dakota State was able to jump to an opening lead in the each of the first three games.  DSU lost to West Texas A&M in the season opener game on Feb. 14 and fell short to host-team Oklahoma Christian 5-3 in the night cap.  OCU swept a doubleheader over the Trojans on Feb. 15 by the scores of 10-2 and 3-0.

2015 DSU BASEBALL HOME SCHEDULE:  Dakota State have scheduled 19 home games to be played at the Flynn Field in Madison this season.  The season home opener is slated for March 19 versus long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in a doubleheader.  The Trojans will have a pair of six-game home stand from March 25-29 (vs. Mount Marty, S.D. and a four-game series versus Valley City State, N.D. in North Star Athletic Association conference opener on March 28-29) and April 3-7 (four-game NSAA series versus Dickinson State, N.D. and a non-conference doubleheader versus Winnipeg, Canada).  The Trojans will also host Briar Cliff (Iowa) on April 21 in a nine-inning game and Presentation (S.D.) on April 25-26 in NSAA four-game series finale. 

WEATHER FORECAST IN TUCSON, ARIZ.:  According to the weather forecast on (Weather Channel), the forecast in Tucson, Ariz. are expected to be dry conditions for the next 10 days with the temperatures in the upper 70's this weekend.  The temperatures will be rising in the lower 80's early next week and are forecasted to rise in the upper 80's by the middle of the week and into next weekend.

TEAM LEADERS:   JD Farley leads Dakota State's offense with a batting average of .500 with two hits.  He ranks 14th in the nation in batting average.  Jake Harris leads the team with two runs batted in (RBIs).  Tony Poncia swipes one base this season for the Trojans.  Taylor Boerger, Ian Barker, Bryant Westra and David Novak each record an earned run average of 0.00 from the pitching mound.  Boerger leads the team in strikeout average per nine inning with 4.5 (2 total strikeouts).

TROJANS RANK FIRST IN FIELDING PERCENTAGE:  According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Thursday, Dakota State have five different players that are ranked first in fielding percentage.  JD Farley, Jamie Jorgensen, Anthony Martinez, Jake Harris and Tony Poncia each recorded a fielding percentage of 1.000 (no errors recorded). 

PITCHING RANKS:  Taylor Boerger leads Dakota State in total earned runs allowed, ranking him first in the nation.  He did not give up a earned run in four innings of work on the pitching mound for the Trojans.  He also ranks 12th in the nation in total runs allowed (1), 17th in total walks allowed (1) and 23rd in total hits allowed (4).  Ricahrd Sternberg is 15th in the nation in total hits allowed with three and 43rd in total earned runs allowed with two.  He limited the opponents' batting average to .167, which is 48th-best in the nation.

UP NEXT:  Dakota State (S.D.) returns home on Thursday, March 19 as they play their long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in a non-conference doubleheader at Flynn Field in Madison, S.D.  The game time of the doubleheader will be announced on a later date.  The Trojans continue their action on March 21-22 as they play a four-game series in Seward, Neb. versus Concordia (Neb.) before coming back home at Flynn Field to kick off a six-game home stand from March 25-29.
