SEWARD, Neb. – Dakota State (S.D.) continued their baseball action against members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, visiting Concordia (Neb.) Saturday afternoon at Plum Creek Park.  The Bulldogs used a fast start to sweep the Trojans by the scores of 9-1 and 12-2.

Dakota State lost their sixth straight game, dipping their overall record to 3-16.  Concordia improved to 12-5 overall record.

Game 1 – Concordia (Neb.) 9, Dakota State (S.D.) 1 – FINAL

Alex Cargin hit a 2-RBI double to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead in the bottom second inning.  Daniel Wilkerson added a 3-RBI double to extend CUNE's lead to 5-0 in the third inning.

Concordia scored another three runs in the bottom fourth frame as their lead grew to 8-0, highlighted by Kaleb Geiger's 2-RBI single.

Jamie Jorgensen blasted a solo home run in the top fifth inning as DSU trimmed Bulldogs' lead to 8-1.  It was the second home run this season for Jorgensen.

Cole Stuerke earned an RBI double in the bottom sixth inning to make it 9-1 in favor of Concordia.

Dakota State left three runners on base in the final inning as the Bulldogs secured the victory.

Jorgensen had a home run and an RBI for the Trojans.  Nick Serrata added a single.  Dylan Deckert recorded a walk.  Nathan Wieneke swiped one base.

Stuerke, Wilkerson and Cargin each had a double for the Bulldogs.  Wilkerson produced three RBIs.  Cargin and Geiger each added two RBIs.  Tyler Nelson and Stuerke each had an RBI.  Gieger and Cargin each recorded a stolen base.

The Bulldogs outhit the Trojans 10-2 in the game.  Both teams committed four defensive errors.  DSU left six runners on base while CUNE left three runners on base.

Dakota State completed two double plays (Wieneke Taylor Boerger, Tyler Ratkie and Jorgensen), defensively. 

Garrison Collier (1-1) recorded the loss, pitching three innings for the Trojans.  He allowed five runs (three unearned) on five hits.  He recorded three strikeouts.  Boerger threw three innings in relief and gave up four runs (two unearned) on five hits.

Jaydee Jurgensen (4-0) pitched a complete game victory for the Bulldogs.  He allowed one run on two hits.  He struck out 12 DSU's batters.

Game 2 – Concordia (Neb.) 12, Dakota State (S.D.) 2 – FINAL

Concordia raced to a 9-0 lead through the first two innings of the game and never looked back.

The Bulldogs put together with three runs scored in the opening inning for a 3-0 lead.  CUNE exploded for six more runs in the bottom second frame as their lead grew by nine runs.

Zach Cambier hit an RBI triple and Sean McCartney added an RBI single in the bottom fourth inning, extending CUNE's lead to 11-0.

The Trojans snapped their scoring drought with a run scored in the top fifth inning.  JD Farley led off with a double, followed by Wieneke's walk.  A balk committed by the Bulldogs advanced Farley to third base and Wieneke to second base.  Jon Forster recorded an RBI ground out to score Farley, trailing by the score of 11-1.

Stuerke hit an RBI sacrifice fly as the Bulldogs made it 12-1 lead in the bottom sixth inning.

With a bases loaded situation in the top seventh inning for DSU, Jorgensen produced an RBI single to score David Novak (pinch hitter for Wieneke) to cut CUNE's lead to 12-2.  The Trojans could not add more runs as they left three runners on base when the game ended.

Jorgensen was 2-of-4 at the plate with two singles and an RBI for Dakota State.  Farley added a double and scored a run.  Jake Harris had a single and reached on base by a walk twice.  Novak scored a run.  Forster had an RBI and a walk.  Zach Brown, Farley and Wieneke each had a walk.

Cambier tallied three hits with a triple, double and single with two RBIs for Concordia.  Gieger added two hits.  Taylor Bigandt and Wilkerson each had two RBIs.  Taylor Dudley, Bigandt, Wilkerson, McCartney and Cargin each had a hit.

CUNE outhit DSU 10-4 in the game.  DSU had six defensive errors while CUNE had two defensive errors.

The Trojans left 10 runners on base compared to the Bulldogs eight runners left on base.

Richard Sternberg (1-3) recorded the loss for the Trojans.  He pitched one-plus innings and allowed nine runs (three unearned) on six hits.  Ian Barker worked for three innings in relief and gave up two runs on four hits.  Conner Nagel pitched a shutout fifth inning.  Jordan Lerdal threw in the sixth inning and gave up one run.

Neil Ryan (3-0) picked up the victory for the Bulldogs.  He allowed one run on three hits and struck out four DSU's batters in six innings.  Alex Alsotott worked for one out in the top seventh inning, allowing an unearned run.  Waytt Weller closed the game by pitching the final two outs, giving up one hit.

Dakota State looks to snap their losing skid as they play another doubleheader with Concordia Sunday afternoon.  First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. at Plum Creek Park in Seward, Neb.
