YANKTON, S.D. - The Dakota State University cross country teams ran in the 19th Annual Graphic Edge Invitational, hosted by Mount Marty College, on Saturday morning at the Human Service Center. The Trojan women's team placed 12th with 336 points. The DSU men's team did not compete in the team portion, but had several athletes and unattached runners place in the 8K race. It was the final regular-season cross country meet as they prepare for the Independent Conference meet in two weeks.
Dordt (Iowa) won the women's team title with 49 points. The race featured a total of 141 runners in the 5K race.
Kayla Sveen placed 81st with a time of 21 minutes and 12.71 seconds for DSU. Brooke Fritz ran her personal best time this season with a time of 21:33.99 for a 92nd place finish. Stephanie Uher was 107th in 22:06.75, while Anastasia Asimakopoulos was 108th in 22:08.73. Summer Bronson finished 115th in 22:25.75. Amber Wiebenga ran a time of 23:12.57 for a 128th-place finish.
On the men's side, Dickinson State (N.D.) won the team title with 37 points, which featured a total of 162 runners in the 8K course.
Nic Penning recorded a time of 26.22.71 for a 15th-place finish for the Trojans. Taylor Hague was 120th with a time of 29:15.72. Jared Sutton, running his first collegiate meet this season, finished 148th in 30:40.02.
Matt Fideler, running unattached, won the individual title with a time of 25:25.70.
Both unattached runners - Steve Selchert and Thomas Ricket - ran their personal best times on Saturday. Selchert placed 110th with a time of 28:50.97. Ricket finished 157th in 33:09.87.
Dakota State heads to San Marcos, Calif. on Saturday, Nov. 3 to compete in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference meet. The meet will be hosted by Cal State San Marcos.
