· Dakota State (S.D.) (6-5 overall record) plays their two-game home stand this week at DSU Fieldhouse against a pair of Iowa teams.

· The Trojans host the nationally-ranked (No. 12) Briar Cliff (Iowa) (10-2 overall record) of the Great Plains Athletic Conference on Wednesday evening.  Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.

· On Saturday, DSU welcomes Mount Mercy (Iowa) (8-3) of the Association of Independent Institutions.  The non-conference contest is set for 4 p.m.


· DSU will provide free video and audio broadcast in all DSU men's basketball home games at DSU Fieldhouse.  Follow the Trojan men's basketball games Wednesday and Saturday via live online video and audio webcast on  Jon Hunter, the Voice of the Trojans, will be doing the audio broadcast of the game.

· Dakota State (S.D.) probably have played one of the toughest schedule in the nation this season.

· The Trojans will be facing a nationally-ranked team for the sixth time this season on Wednesday evening. 

· DSU is looking to halt their seven-game losing skid against NAIA's Top 25 teams, dating back to last season.

· Dakota State's last victory over a Top 25 team was on Jan. 3, 2015 when the Trojans upset No. 8 Midland (Neb.) 73-68 at DSU Fieldhouse.


· Tied at 79-79 on Dec. 9 versus Northwestern (Iowa) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., Brendon Boomsma hit the game-winning basket with less than five seconds remaining and held off the Red Raiders for an 81-79 thriller.

· The victory also snapped Trojans' three-game losing skid in the series meeting with Northwestern (Iowa).  The last time DSU defeated NWIA was on Nov. 6, 2013 at DSU Fieldhouse.

· A total of 15 ties and 11 lead changes were featured in the game. 

· Dakota State had the biggest lead of the game at 43-34 with 3:05 left in the first-half.  The Red Raiders answered back by closing the first-half with a 9-2 run where the Trojans held on to a slim 45-43 halftime advantage.

· The Red Raiders grabbed a 68-61 lead with 8:34 left, but the Trojans answered by scoring eight straight points to overtake the lead at 69-68 with 7:09 remaining.

· Trailing 79-77, Boomsma scored the final four points of the game.  He scored on a lay-up with less than a minute to go in the game to tie the game at 79-79.

· NWIA committed a turnover on the ensuing possession which DSU's Adam Hofer stole the ball and called timeout with 26.5 seconds left in the game.

· Boomsma drove inside the paint and nailed down the basket with less than five seconds remaining to give DSU a two-point lead.  The Trojans secured the thrilling victory as NWIA's Colton Kooima missed a 3-pointer shot at the buzzer.

· Derek Meger poured in 25 points for DSU on his 12-of-16 shooting from the field.  Boomsma added 13 points.  Kyle Kilgore recorded a double-double of 11 points (including a monstrous dunk late in the second-half) and pulled down 10 rebounds.  Tanner Heiser had 10 points.

· DSU outscored NWIA 62-38 inside the paint and 24-14 in points off turnovers.

· Both teams will meet again on Dec. 30 for their second meeting of the season in Orange City.


· Dakota State (S.D.) play their final two home games of the 2015 season this week.

· The Trojans are 2-2 record at DSU Fieldhouse this season.  Dakota State was 8-1 record at home during the first portion of 2015 winter season (their only loss of the season was versus Jamestown, N.D. 87-80 on Feb. 4, 2015).

· Since Gary Garner's arrival at Dakota State seven years ago, the Trojans had recorded a winning record at home each year.

· After this week's games, Dakota State's remaining home games will be against members of the North Star Athletic Association.  The Trojans kick off the 2016 home schedule versus newcomer Waldorf (Iowa) on Jan. 6, 2016.


· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Monday, Dakota State (S.D.) ranks sixth in the nation in 3-point field goal defense percentage of 28 percent.  Briar Cliff (Iowa) is third in the nation in total 3-point field goals made (145) and eighth in 3-point field percentage (.406).

· The Trojans are allowing an average of 67.5 points per game, which is 15th best in the nation.  Briar Cliff is averaging 99.8 points per game, the second-best points average per game in the NAIA.  Mount Mercy (Iowa) is 8th in the nation in scoring offense per game by an average of 92.2 points per game.

· DSU is 21st in the nation in field goal shooting (48.4 percent), followed by Briar Cliff 4th in the nation (50.8 percent) and Mount Mercy 46th (46.1 percent).


· Points:  Kyle Kilgore—138 points (12.5 points per game)

· Field Goal Percentage:  Derek Meger—63.8 percent (51-of-80 field goals)

· 3-point Field Goal Percentage:  Brendon Boomsma—42.6 percent (20-of-47 3-pointers)

· Free-throw percentage:  Brendon Boomsma—89.7 percent (26-of-29 free-throws)

· Rebounds:  Kyle Kilgore—85 rebounds (7.7 rebounds per game)

· Assists:  Adam Hofer—39 assists (3.5 assists per game)

· Steals:  Adam Hofer—14 steals (1.3 steals per game)

· Blocked shots:  Derek Meger—6 blocked shots (0.6 blocks per game)


· Briar Cliff (Iowa) drained a total of 15 3-pointers in 81-61 victory over Dakota State (S.D.) in both teams' last meeting on Dec. 13, 2014 in Sioux City, Iowa.

· The Trojans are seeking for their first victory over the Chargers since Dec. 29, 2004 by the score of 83-75.

· Mount Mercy (Iowa) held on to defeat DSU 73-72 in both teams' last meeting on Nov. 28, 2014 at the Midland (Neb.) Draemel Classic.  The Trojans had a 45-42 halftime lead.
