DICKINSON, N.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) shot season-highs 60.3 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from the 3-point line Saturday evening, propelling the Trojans to a 105-84 North Star Athletic Association men's basketball conference road victory over Dickinson State (N.D.) at Scott Gymnasium.  The Trojans' 105 points tied the season-high in total points since the season-opener versus Mount Marty (S.D.) last October, and scored its most points in the NSAA conference game in DaSU men's basketball team history.

Dakota State won their fourth straight NSAA conference and raised their overall record to 10-11, their seventh straight season with a double-digit victories.  The Trojans are 4-2 in NSAA conference play.  Dickinson State fell to 10-10 overall record and 3-2 NSAA record.

The Trojans and Blue Hawks went through two ties and seven lead changes in the first nine minutes and sixteen seconds of the game.

After DaSU regained their lead at 22-21, the Trojans closed the first-half with a 33-23 scoring outburst to grab a 55-44 halftime lead.

Dakota State had three players hit double-digits in the first-half, thanks to a blazing 63.6 percent shooting from the field (21-of-33) and 7-of-11 from the 3-point line.  Dickinson State was 61.3 percent from the field (19-of-31), but only made 1 3-pointers in six attempts in the first twenty minutes.

The Blue Hawks were able to cut Trojans' lead to 64-60 with 14:05 remaining.  The Trojans answered with a 7-2 spurt to regain their double-digit lead to 73-62 with a basket by Derek Meger with less than 12 minutes left.

Leading 73-67, DaSU's offense exploded for 14 consecutive points to widen their lead to 88-67 with 6:28 remaining (after Tanner Heiser drained a 3-pointer) and never looked back.

The Trojans outscored the Blue Hawks 50-40 in the final twenty minutes of the game.  DaSU was 56.7 percent from the field (17-of-30) and 5-of-10 from the 3-point line in the second-half.  DiSU shot 48.4 percent (15-of-31) and 3-of-14 from the 3-point range.

Dakota State made 11-of-13 free-throws in the second period compared to Dickinson State 7-of-18 free-throws.

Six Trojans hit double figures in the game, led by Ian Barse with 20 points.  He was 7-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-10 from the 3-point arc.  Hofer added 19 points after he shot 6-of-8 from the field and went perfect 3-of-3 3-pointers and 4-of-4 free-throws.

Kyle Kilgore scored 17 points (6-of-10 field goals) for DaSU.  Meger came off the bench and went perfect 7-of-7 from the field for 14 points.  Brendon Boomsma had 12 points (6-of-6 free-throws).  Heiser had 11 points.  Justin Folkers tallied eight points.

Heiser dished out a season-high nine assists for the Trojans.  Boomsma and Hofer each added three assists.

Kilgore earned seven rebounds for Dakota State.  Taylor Zirbel and Barse each collected five rebounds.

Reggie Fields, Jr. (7-of-9 field goals) and Julian Vasquez each had 18 points for the Blue Hawks.  Curtis Redd had 12 points.  Jacob Gondrezick tallied 11 points.  Gilbert Shojgreen, Jr. had 10 points.

Vasquez produced six assists and earned seven boards for DiSU.

Dakota State made 38 baskets in 63 attempts in the game compared to Dickinson State 34-of-62 (54.8 percent).  The Trojans drained 12 3-pointers in 21 attempts, while the Blue Hawks struggled from the 3-point line for 20 percent (4-of-20).

DaSU converted 17-of-19 free-throws (89.5 percent).  DiSU was 12-of-25 from the free-throw line (48 percent).

The Trojans outrebounded the Blue Hawks 35-27. 

Dakota State finishes off their three-game road trip on Wednesday evening as they continue their NSAA conference play.  The Trojans travel to W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse to take on the nationally-ranked (No. 12) Valley City State (N.D.).  The game is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. in Valley City, N.D.
