NSAA PRESS RELEASE

MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State's (S.D.) Kyle Kilgore was honored by the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference for the third consecutive week as Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week, the fourteenth edition of the weekly honor was announced by the conference office Monday.

Kilgore, 6-foot-7 forward, posted another pair of double-doubles as the Trojans went 2-0 record for the week.  He poured in a game-high 27 points on his 11-of-21 field goal shooting and 5-of-9 free-throws to help DSU defeat Jamestown (N.D.) in a crucial NSAA conference game on Feb. 17.  He also grabbed 11 rebounds to earn a double-double in the game, along with four assists, three blocked shots and a steal.

Kilgore helped the Trojans take a 87-86 lead after completing a 3-point play with 18.6 seconds remaining in the game versus the Jimmies.  DSU went on to win by the score of 89-86.

He followed up with another double-double on Feb. 20 – his fourth straight game and eleventh overall double-double of the season – in 83-51 home rout over Dickinson State (N.D.).  He had 19 points and earned 13 rebounds in the game.  He was 11-of-12 from the free-throw line and recorded three assists.

For the week, Kilgore averaged 23.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game for the Trojans.  He was 15-of-33 from the field and made 16-of-21 free-throws.

According to the NAIA-DakStats statistical website as of Monday, Kilgore ranks 15th in the nation in field goal percentage of 57.8 percent.  He also ranks 23rd in total rebounds with 241 rebounds, 29th in defensive rebounds per game (6.2) and 32nd in total rebounds per game (8.3).  He leads the NSAA conference in the rebounds category.

Kyle is the son of Eric and Pam Kilgore of Adrian, Minn.  He is a junior Physical Education major at Dakota State University.

Dakota State clinched a share of the North Star Athletic Association regular-season conference title with Valley City State (N.D.) and Bellevue (Neb.).  It was the first time in Trojan men's basketball team history that they had won back-to-back regular-season conference title. 

DSU, winner of six straight games and 10 games in the last 12 NSAA conference games, opens up the NSAA Conference Postseason Tournament as a third-seed team on Thursday evening.  The Trojans host No. 6 Waldorf (Iowa) in the opening round with a tip-off starting at 7 p.m. at DSU Fieldhosue.
