MADISON, S.D.Derek Meger of Dakota State (S.D.) received the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Men's Basketball Champions of Character medal from the conference's commissioner Cory Anderson Monday evening after the conclusion of the championship game at DSU Fieldhouse.

Each NSAA conference school has a representative that display the five core values of the NAIA's initiative Champions of Character.  The five core values include integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

Meger – 6-foot-6 forward – averaged 11.4 points per game for the Trojans.  He leads the team in field goal percentage (ranked No. 9 in the nation for best field goal percentage prior to Monday's championship game), making 156 baskets in 254 attempts (61.4 percent).  He also averaged 5.9 rebounds per game and recorded 17 blocked shots in 30 games played this season.

Derek is the son of Stan and Lori Meger of Duluth, Minn.  He is a senior Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.
