· The Dakota State University baseball team (6-11 overall record, 0-0 North Star Athletic Association Conference record) remains home to conclude their eight-game home stand Monday & Tuesday at Flynn Field.

· The Trojans host Mayville State (N.D.) (13-15, 0-0 NSAA) in both teams North Star Athletic Association's conference opener at Flynn Field. 

· The doubleheader will consist of nine-inning first game and seven-inning second game.  First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Monday and 12 p.m. noon.


· Dakota State (S.D.) will have live stats/play-by-play for all four games in the series with Mayville State (N.D.) Monday and Tuesday.

· The Dakota State University (S.D.) baseball team was originally scheduled to play Mayville State (N.D.) Friday and Saturday at Flynn Field. 

· The snowstorm that went through the Midwest region on March 23, forced to push back the North Star Athletic Association conference season opener versus Mayville State (N.D.).

· DSU was slated to play a non-conference doubleheader at Dordt (Iowa) on Monday.  That doubleheader has been postponed due to DSU-MSU's four-game series make-up date.  The make-up date for Trojans-DC baseball doubleheader has not yet been determined.

· After DSU-MSU four-game series at home, the Trojans begin their 11-game road stretch starting on March 31 at Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.).  DSU plays four-game series at No. 5 Bellevue (Neb.) next weekend and at Presentation (S.D.) on April 9-10.


· Briar Cliff (Iowa) swept Dakota State (S.D.) in a home-and-away series.  The Trojans fell short in the series opener 5-4 in eight innings and 9-6 on March 20 in Sioux City, Iowa.

· On March 21 at Flynn Field, DSU could not complete their comeback as they fell to the Chargers 8-7 in the first game and 13-9 in the second game.

· Jacob Arlt batted .750 during the four-game series versus BCU.  He went 6-of-8, including a pair of 3-of-3 at the plate on March 21.  Arlt recorded a home run, a double and two RBIs with a slugging percentage of 1.250.

· The Trojans were hit-by-pitch ten times during their four games with Briar Cliff.  Tony Poncia was hit-by-pitch five times.


· Dakota State (S.D.) earned its third shutout of the season, shutting down their long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) 8-0 on March 22 at Flynn Field.

· DSU also earned shutout victories over Mount Marty (S.D.) in Trojans' season-opening doubleheader sweep by the scores of 4-0 and 2-0.

· Jamie Jorgensen tossed his first career shutout victory after pitching a complete game in the first game of the doubleheader versus DWU.  He pitched seven innings and limited the Tigers to just two singles. 

· The Trojans opened up the game with a 1-0 lead after Tyler Ratkie's solo home run in the first inning.  It was his second home run of the season.

· Dakota State exploded for seven runs in the bottom fifth frame, extending their lead to 8-0.

· DSU ended the game by a double play by Jalen Boyd, Ratkie and Jacob Arlt.

· The Trojans earned their first home victory of the season at Flynn Field.

· Richard Sternberg (double) and Ratkie each went 1-of-3 at the plate for the Trojans.  Sternberg had two RBIs.

· DSU fell in the second game to the Tigers by the score of 11-3.


· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Thursday, Dakota State (S.D.) recorded eight total triples this season.  DSU's eight triples ranks 38th-most triples in the nation.

· Jake Harris and Tony Poncia are No. 20 in the nation with 0.154 triples per game for the Trojans.  Ian Barker also ranks 28th in the nation for triples per game with an average of 0.143.

· Tyler Ratkie smashed his first home runs during his career at DSU.  He hit both home runs at Flynn Field earlier this week.

· Barker also recorded two home runs this season, while Jordan Hofer and Jacob Arlt each have a home run for the Trojans.

· DSU accumulated a total of 19 doubles in 2016, led by Jamie Jorgensen with three doubles.  Harris, Arlt, Shiquina Santana, Hofer and Barker each recorded two doubles.  

· As a team, the Trojans produced a slugging percentage of .365 through 17 games.


· Dakota State (S.D.) will be playing a total of 24 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference games this season—12 at home and 12 on the road.

· The Trojans will play four-game series at Flynn Field versus Mayville State (N.D.) on March 28-29, Viterbo (Wis.) on April 23-24 and Waldorf on April 30-May 1.

· DSU plays four-game series on the road at Bellevue (Neb.) on April 2-3, Presentation (S.D.) on April 9-10 and Dickinson State (N.D.) on April 16-17.

· The NSAA postseason tournament will be in Jamestown, N.D. and Valley City, N.D. in May.
