GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK

· The Dakota State University (S.D.) (9-12, 3-1 North Star Athletic Association conference record) baseball team will be kicking off their 11-game road stretch Thursday with a non-conference game in Mitchell, S.D.

· DSU takes on long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) (13-10) in a single nine-inning game.  First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. at Drake Field in Mitchell (Caldwell Park).

· The Trojans swing back in the North Star Athletic Association conference action this weekend at nationally-ranked No. 4 Bellevue (Neb.) (23-5, 3-0 NSAA) in a four-game series.

· Saturday's games will be held at Westgate Complex (8121 D St.) in Omaha, Neb. with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.  On Sunday, both teams will head to Bellevue, Neb. for another doubleheader at Roddy Field (1401 High School Drive) at 12 noon.

DSU'S 11-GAME ROAD STRETCH FACTS

· Dakota State (S.D.) begins their 11-game road stretch Thursday at Dakota Wesleyan.

· DSU continues their road trip with a 4-game series at Bellevue (Neb.) this weekend, a doubleheader at Mount Marty (S.D.) Tuesday (note game time changed to 5 p.m.).

· The Trojans conclude their road stretch with another NSAA's four-game series at Presentation (S.D.) on April 9-10.

TROJANS OPEN NSAA CONFERENCE PLAY WITH 3-1 RECORD

· Dakota State (S.D.) kicked off the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Conference season on Monday with a tripleheader versus Mayville State (N.D.), who is the defending conference tournament's champion from last year.

· The Trojans began the conference with a rare tripleheader sweep over the Comets on Monday.  DSU posted scores of 5-2, 4-3 and 4-1.

· Tyler Pruszynski earned three games in all three Dakota State's victories over Mayville State on Monday.  He limited the Comets to just one hit in 2 2/3 innings of work that day.

· In the NSAA conference opener, the Trojans exploded for four runs in the bottom fourth to overtake the lead from the Comets and held for a 5-2 victory.

· Trailing 3-1 in the second game of the four-game series, DSU scored three runs combined in the fifth and sixth innings to prevail for a 4-3 victory.

· Dakota State won the nightcap after jumping to a 4-0 lead and recorded a 4-1 victory over MSU.  Tyler Ratkie and Jamie Jorgensen each had a double in the game.

· The Trojans were unable to complete a four-game series sweep over the Comets as they fell 18-6 on Tuesday in a nine-inning game.

· Jacob Arlt led Dakota State by going 4-of-6 at the plate during the four-game series (.667), and reached on base six times.  He led the Trojans with four runs batted in (RBIs.)

· DSU's Jake Harris had a home run in the final game of the four-game series on Tuesday.

· Ian Barker and Ratkie each produced two doubles in the four-game series.

· Richard Sternberg, Taylor Boerger and Trevor Pitsor each recorded a pitching victory from the mound for the Trojans.

· DSU registered a .956 fielding percentage during the four-game series compared to MSU .951 fielding percentage.

· The Trojans were hit-by-pitch 11 times in the series, totaling up 41 hit-by-pitch this season.

FOR THE RECORDS

· Dakota State (S.D.) began their North Star Athletic Association conference play with a 3-0 record after a tripleheader sweep over Mayville State (N.D.) Monday.  It was the first time that the Trojans began the NSAA conference play with a 3-0 record.

· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Wednesday, Taylor Boerger ranks 27th in the nation in total runs allowed with 10.  He also ranks 35th after giving up a total of eight earned runs.

· Dakota State is 26th in the nation in triples per game with an average of 0.4 triples per game.  Ian Barker is 39th in the nation with 0.125 triples per game, while Jake Harris and Tony Poncia each rank 50th in the nation with 0.118 triples per game.

· Jordan Hofer is perfect 6-of-6 on stolen bases this season for the Trojans.  Jamie Jorgensen is 3-for-3 on stolen bases, while Ian Barker is 2-for-2 for stolen bases.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THIS WEEK

· According to the Weather Channel website (www.weather.com) as of Wednesday, the weather forecast for Thursday afternoon's game in Mitchell, S.D. calls for 80 percent chance of rain with 25 miles-per-hour wind from the west-northwest.  Temperatures will be in the upper 40's.

· On Saturday in Omaha, Neb., the forecast calls for sunny skies with wind of over 20 miles per hour from the northwest.  The highs will be in the upper 50's. 

· As both teams move to the south to Bellevue, Neb. on Sunday, dry conditions will persist with the temperatures soaring into the upper 70's with sunny skies and winds of 20-plus miles-per-hour from the southwest.
