GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK

· The Dakota State University (S.D.) (9-16 overall record, 3-5 North Star Athletic Association conference record) looks to snap their five-game losing skid as they play seven games in a span of one week.

· The Trojans will make their second trip to Bob Tereshinski Stadium at Riverside Park this season.  DSU will play Mount Marty (S.D.) (7-18 overall record) in a non-conference doubleheader, starting at 5 p.m. in Yankton, S.D.

· Dakota State resumes to NSAA conference play this weekend as the Trojans remain on the road.  DSU is scheduled to play a four-game series with Presentation (S.D.) (11-23, 2-6 NSAA) with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12 noon.  The games are slated to play at Fossum Field in Aberdeen, S.D.

· DSU returns back home next Monday (April 11) from a ten-game road stretch as they host Dordt (Iowa) in a single nine-inning game.  First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Flynn Field in Madison, S.D.

DSU FALLS TO NO. 4 BELLEVUE (NEB.) IN NSAA CONFERENCE PLAY

· Dakota State (S.D.) could not got a victory in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) four-game series at nationally-ranked No. 4 Bellevue (Neb.) last weekend.

· The Trojans earned its first lead of the game in the series opener at Westgate Field in Omaha, Neb. after Jamie Jorgensen drilled an RBI triple in the top second inning.  BU answered with six runs in the bottom third inning after recording four straight hits (and three doubles).  BU outscored DSU 13-3 in the final six innings of the game.

· DSU had a 4-3 lead after five-and-half innings in the second game of the series.  The Bruins rallied back with two runs scored in the bottom sixth inning and held on to a 5-4 victory.

· Both teams traveled south on April 3 at Roddy Field in Bellevue, Neb. 

· The third game of the series saw a pitcher's duel between DSU's Jorgensen and Bruin Baulio Torres-Perez.  Jorgensen tossed seven-plus innings, while Torres-Perez

· DSU jumped to a 1-0 lead in the second inning after Tyler Ratkie's RBI fielder's choice with a bases loaded situation. 

· Bellevue (Neb.) exploded for five runs in the bottom eighth inning and defeated the Trojans by the score of 5-1.

· After the Trojans grabbed a 1-0 lead in the final game of the series, the Bruins went on to score seven straight unanswered runs from second to sixth innings for a 7-1 victory.

· Jake Harris batted .364 in the series by going 4-of-11 at the plate with four singles and drove in two runs for DSU.

· Jorgensen produced two doubles and a triple with three RBIs in the series for the Trojans.  Tony Poncia added a triple.

· Ian Barker, Shiquing Santana and Garrett Mullins each recorded a batting average of .333 in the four-game series with Bellevue.

· The Trojans had a .969 fielding percentage in the series.

RECORDS WATCH

· Ian Barker had accumulated a total of five triples during his career at Dakota State.  He is currently tied for second most career triples with Josh Wells from 2005-06.

· Danny Flahie (2013-14) and Chaz Palmer (2010-13) each hold the DSU school record for most triples in a career with six triples.

· Tony Poncia produced three triples for the Trojans this season.  He is one triple away for tying for the second most triples in a single season. 

· Josh Wells (2006), Chris Ebnet (2006) and Brandon Jiles (2005) each had four triples in one season for DSU.

· Danny Flahie owns the Dakota State baseball school record with five triples in a single season in 2014.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THIS WEEK

· According to the Weather Channel website (www.weather.com) as of Monday, the forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with winds from the south-southwest at 20 to 30-miles-per-hour.  Temperatures will be in the 60's during the day before falling into the 40's by nighttime.

· Dry conditions are in the forecast for this weekend in Aberdeen, S.D. with temperatures expecting to be in the 60's.  There is 40 percent of morning showers on Sunday.

· Temperatures will drop into the 50's on next Monday in Madison when the Trojans return back home after their 10-game road stretch.  The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with the winds coming from the north-northwest at 10-to-20 miles-per-hour.
