YANKTON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) visited the Bob Tereshinski Stadium for the second time in a month Tuesday evening, taking on in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.).  The Trojans won the first two meetings that time, but the Lancers swept DSU by the scores of 13-2 and 6-0.

Both teams are 9-18 overall record after the completion of the games.  They will meet for the third time this season on April 19 at Flynn Field in Madison, S.D.

Game 1 – Mount Marty (S.D.) 13, Dakota State (S.D.) 2 – FINAL

The Lancers exploded for five runs in the bottom fifth inning to gain a 5-0 lead in the first game of the doubleheader.  MMC produced six hits in the inning, with four singles and an RBI triple by Caden Skinner.

Ian Barker blasted a solo home run in the top third frame as DSU trimmed Lancers' lead to 5-1.  It was his third home run this season and his 12th career home run at Dakota State.

Ethan Lynn's 2-RBI double highlighted Lancers' 3-run fourth inning to extend their lead to 8-1.

Dakota State scored once in the top fifth inning.  Jose Lopez reached on base by a defensive error committed by Mount Marty.  Barker hit a double and advanced to third base.  After Jake Harris' line out, Lopez scored home after the Lancers committed another defensive miscue as DSU trailed 8-2.

Austin White hit a 2-RBI double, followed by Skyler Cary's RBI single as MMC expanded their lead to 11-2 in the bottom half of the fifth inning. 

The Lancers added two more runs in the sixth inning to complete the final score. 

Barker was 2-of-3 at the plate with a home run, double and an RBI for the Trojans.  Harris added a double and a single.  Tony Poncia and Jacob Arlt each added a single.  Jamie Jorgensen, Jordan Hofer and Arlt each reached on base by a walk once.

White was 4-of-5 at the plate with a double, three singles and produced three RBIs for the Lacners.  Mason Kaitfors, Cary and Brandon Kemp each had two hits.  Lynn had a double and two RBIs.

MMC outhit DSU 17-6 in the game.  

Trevor Pitsor (L, 1-2) took the loss on the pitching mound for DSU.  He tossed 3 1/3 innings and allowed eight runs on nine hits.  David Novak worked for 1 2/3 innings in relief, giving up three runs on four hits.  Garrett Mullins pitched in the sixth inning and gave up two runs on four hits.

Hunter Hallock (W, 1-0) earned the victory for the Lancers.  He pitched four innings and allowed one run on two hits.  Evan Steiner worked for two innings in relief and gave up an unearned run on two hits.  Brody Ries tossed a shutout seventh inning.

Game 2 – Mount Marty (S.D.) 6, Dakota State (S.D.) 0 – FINAL

Dakota State could not score in the second game as the Lancers held on to a 6-0 shutout victory for a doubleheader sweep.

Mount Marty took advantage of four walks and a hit-by-pitch allowed by the Trojans in the bottom first inning, producing a 2-0 lead.

DSU left a runner on third and first base in the top third inning and could not convert their scoring opportunity.

The Lancers scored four runs in the bottom fifth inning for a 6-0 lead, thanks to Lynn's 2-RBI single.

The Trojans left two runners on base when the game ended, securing the victory for the Lancers.

Jalen Boyd, Shiquing Santana, Mullins and Richard Sternberg each had a single for Dakota State.  Boyd and Santana each walked once.  Santana swiped one base.

Lynn recorded a single and two RBIs for Mount Marty.  Kaitfors, White and Cary each had a single.  Travis Neumann and Hallock each had an RBI.

Both teams had four hits and left six runners on base.

David Kirby (L, 1-3) recorded the loss for DSU.  He pitched two innings, giving up two runs and five walks.  Barker tossed two shutout innings in relief.  Luke Gassman worked in the fifth inning and allowed four runs on three hits.  Tyler Pruszynski pitched in the sixth inning, yielding the Lancers to one hit.

Trevor Jutting (W, 1-0) notched the victory for MMC.  He pitched four innings and limited DSU to two singles.  Derek Miller tossed two scoreless innings in relief.  Michael Sadler closed the game and gave up two hits in the seventh inning.

Dakota State looks to end their losing skid as they resume to their North Star Athletic Association conference action this weekend.  The Trojans stay on the road as they visit Presentation (S.D.) in a four-game series.  The doubleheader kicks off at 1 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday at Fossum Field in Aberdeen, S.D.
