YANKTON, S.D. - The Dakota State University placed two runners in the top-four in men's race at the Mount Marty Invitational Saturday morning. The race was held at Human Services Center Grounds.
The Trojan men's team accumulated 94 points for a fourth-place finish in a 13-team affair. The men's race featured 148 runners.
Andy Coy finished second in the 8000-race course with a time of 25 minutes and 41.31 seconds for Dakota State. Matt Fideler ran a time of 25:54.26 for a fourth-place finish. Michael Hoffman was 12th with a time of 26:26.01. Nic Penning placed 29th in 27:06.73.
Other DSU men's place finishers are: John Bintliff (64th - 28:02.72); Jacob Cassutt (95th - 28:58.81); Kace Groff (97th - 29:06.01); Josh Scott (137th - 33:05.87) and Jim Wynia (145th - 34:05.46).
On the women's side, Dakota State placed 12th with 304 points. A total of 138 runners competed in the 5000-meter course.
Stephanie Warnke finished 29th with a time of 19:38.15 for DSU. Claire Beck was 103rd in 22:07.14.
Other DSU women's place finishers are: Summer Bronson (120th - 23:16.78); Amber Wiebenga (121st - 23:19.30); Nicole Jurrens (123rd - 23:23.19) and Sara Schultz (130th - 24:36.24).
Dakota State will take a week off before preparing for postseason action on Nov. 5. The Trojans travel to San Marcos, Calif. to compete in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Cross Country Championship meet.
