GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK

· The Dakota State University (S.D.) basketball team (14-22, 7-8 North Star Athletic Association conference record) continues their nine-game home stand at Flynn Field with four games this weekend.

· The Trojans swing back in the North Star Athletic Association conference play, hosting Viterbo (Wis.) (10-26, 6-10 NSAA) in a four-game series.  The series kick off on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader, followed by another doubleheader on Sunday at 12 p.m.

· DSU will have their Senior Day on Saturday.  There are eight seniors on the Trojan Baseball team this season.

· Dakota State is currently playing their last 14 games of the regular-season game, with 13 games at Flynn Field.  The Trojans visit NCAA Division I South Dakota State on Wednesday.

DSU'S SENIOR DAY ON SATURDAY

· Dakota State (S.D.) will have their Senior Day during the doubleheader versus Viterbo (Wis.) on Saturday.

· There are eight seniors on the DSU Baseball team. 

· Eight seniors include Ian Barker, Travis Fleming, Luke Gassman, Jake Harris, Jamie Jorgensen, Tony Poncia, Tyler Pruszynski and Tyler Ratkie

· Both Gassman and Jorgensen had been members of the Trojan Baseball program for the past four years.

· Barker was with DSU for the past three years, while Poncia, Harris, Ratkie and Fleming was here for two years.  Pruszynski joined the Trojans this spring.

TROJANS PLAY RARE TRIPLEHEADER WITH BLUE HAWKS; SPLIT WITH MMC AT HOME

· Dakota State (S.D.) played the NSAA conference tripleheader for the second time this season, forcing to move the series from Dickinson State (N.D.) to Flynn Field on April 17.

· The Trojans were unable to hold on to their fast starts in the first two games of the tripleheader, holding 5-0 and 8-0 first inning leads.  The Blue Hawks rallied back for a 7-5 game one victory and 14-11 10-inning game two win.

· Jordan Hofer's grand slam combined with Garrison Collier's complete game propelled the Trojans to a 10-2 victory in the nightcap.

· Hofer led the Trojans with a batting average of .455 after going 5-of-11 in three games against the Blue Hawks.  He blasted a home run in each of the three games.  Hofer recorded a slugging percentage of 1.364 during the tripleheader (3 home runs, 1 double).

· DSU's Jacob Arlt and Jake Harris each also hit a home run during the series with Dickinson State.

· Tony Poncia and Dylan Colman each produced a triple and three hits for the Trojans.

· Dakota State continued their home stand on April 19 versus in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.).

· The Lancers won the first game of the doubleheader by the score of 6-3.  Garrett Mullins had a double, while Poncia added a single.

· DSU won the second game 5-2 to gain a six-game season series split with MMC.  The Trojans also halted Lancers' seven-game winning streak.

· Ian Barker smashed season-highs two home runs and drove in five runs (RBIs) for the Trojans.  He hit a 2-run home run in the bottom fourth inning and added blasted a 3-run home run to break a 2-2 tie into a 5-2 DSU lead.

· Richard Sternberg recorded the victory from the pitching mound for the Trojans.  He tossed six innings and allowed two runs on six hits.

· Tyler Pruszynski earned his sixth save of the season after working a scoreless seventh inning.

DSU HIT SEVEN HOME RUNS IN FIVE GAMES

· Dakota State (S.D.) hit seven home runs in the first five games of the current nine-game home stand at Flynn Field.

· Jordan Hofer hit a home run in each of the three games against Dickinson State (N.D.) on April 17.  He hit a lead-off home run in the first game, while hitting another 2-run home run in the second game.  Hofer hit a grand slam in the final game of the tripleheader.  It was his fourth home of the season.

· Jacob Arlt hit a 3-run home run for the Trojans in the second game of the tripleheader versus the Blue Hawks, recording his second home run of the season.

· Also in the second game of the tripleheader, Jake Harris smashed a 3-run home run.  It was his second home run of the season, his fifth career home run at Dakota State.

· Ian Barker blasted a pair of home runs to fuel the Trojans to a 5-2 game two victory over in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) on April 19.  He collected his fourth and fifth home run of the season, while he totaled 14 home runs during his three-year career at DSU.

DSU IN THE RANKS

· According to the DakStats-NAIA website statistical website as of Thursday, Dakota State (S.D.) ranks 26th in the nation in triples per game (0.361) and 38th in total triples (13).

· The Trojans are also 32nd in the nation in assists per game (10.2).

· Tony Poncia collected four triples for Dakota State, ranking 43rd in the nation.  Ian Barker is 50th with 0.107 triples per game.

· Tyler Pruszynski earned six saves this season for DSU, which is 25th most in the nation.
