McCOOK LAKE, S.D. - The Dakota State University men's cross country recorded 181 points for a sixth-place finish and women's team scored 341 points for a 12th place finish at the Briar Cliff Invitational. The meet was held at the Adams Nature Preserve on Saturday morning.
NCAA Division II Augustana swept both men's (27 points) and women's team (65 points) titles out of 14 teams. The men's race featured 153 runners in the race, while the women's race consisted of 158 runners.
Matt Fideler finished 12th with a time of 25 minutes and 23 seconds for DSU. Nic Penning was 31st in 26:11. Michael Hoffman was 40th with a time of 26:33.
Other DSU men's place finishers are: John Bintliff (59th - 27:06); Kace Groff (89th - 28:17); Jacob Cassutt (111th - 29:03) and Jim Wynia (149th - 34:01).
On the women's side, Stephanie Warnke placed 26th with a time of 19:11. Other DSU women's place finishers are: Claire Beck (113th - 22:16); Nicole Jurrens (125th - 22:56); Amber Wiebenga (130th - 23:09); Sara Schultz (135th - 23:30) and Summer Bronson (146th - 24:39).
Dakota State takes a week off before returning back to action on Saturday, Oct. 23. The Trojans will prepare for their final tune-up as they participate in the Graphic Edge Invitational, while features numerous NAIA teams in the Midwest. The meet is expected to start at 10:30 a.m. with the women's race, followed by the men's race at 11:15 a.m.
