· The Dakota State University (S.D.) baseball team (17-23, 10-9 North Star Athletic Association conference record) enters their final week of regular-season play with five games scheduled.

· The Trojans play their final regular-season non-conference game Tuesday afternoon against NCAA Division I South Dakota State (15-24 overall record).  First pitch for the nine-inning game is set for 3 p.m. at Erv Huether Field on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. 

· It was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but poor weather forecast conditions has pushed up a day.

· Dakota State returns home at Flynn Field for their final NSAA conference four-game series.  The Trojans host Waldorf (Iowa) with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and another twin-bill games on Sunday starting at 12 p.m.


· South Dakota State will provide a free audio webcast for the baseball game with Dakota State (S.D.) on Tuesday afternoon.  Go to and click on the link for a free audio webcast.

· Dakota State (S.D.) concluded their nine-game home stand at Flynn Field by taking three of four games versus Viterbo (Wis.) in the North Star Athletic Association conference action.

· The Trojans won a pair of games on April 23 by blasting a combined eight home runs in 15-6 and 9-6 victories over the V-Hawks.

· DSU recorded season-highs in runs (15), hits (19), home runs (6) and batting average (.463) in the 15-6 four-game series opener.  The Trojans smashed four home runs in the bottom eight inning, including three straight home runs by Ian Barker, Jacob Arlt and Jamie Jorgensen.

· Dakota State and Viterbo split a pair of extra-inning affairs on April 27 with the V-Hawks winning the first game in 10 innings by the score of 8-6.

· Barker nearly recorded a hit cycle in the game, despite the loss.  He hit a home run, triple and double in the game.

· The Trojans bounced back and win the four-game series finale with a 6-5 8-inning thriller over the V-Hawks.

· Jake Harris led DSU with a batting average of .786 by going 11-of-14 at the plate during the four-game series.  He also led the team with a slugging percentage of 1.741 with four home runs and a double.  Harris drove in 13 runs.

· Arlt added a batting average of .636 (7-of-11) and a slugging percentage of 1.000.  Barker posted .529 batting average and slugging percentage of 1.471 (four home runs, two doubles and a triple).

· Eight DSU players—Harris, Arlt, Barker, Tony Poncia, Richard Sternberg, Garrett Mullins, Shiquing Santana and Tyler Ratkie—posted a batting average of .300 or batter in the four-game series.

· The Trojans smashed 11 home runs in the four-game series and outhit VU 53-43.

· Tyler Pruszynski tallied two pitching victories in the four-game series for the Trojans.  Taylor Boerger also had a victory on the pitching mound.


· The NSAA conference selected DSU's Ian Barker as its Baseball Player-of-the-Week, announced by the conference office Monday.

· He played in five of six DSU games last week, going 4-2 record.  He was 12-of-20 at the plate, blasting a total of six home runs, two doubles and a triple.  He also collected 12 RBIs and recorded an on-base percentage of .619.

· Barker had four multi-hits games, recording three hits during the game three times last week. 

· He broke the DSU's career triple record in the third game of the four-game series on April 24.  Barker earned his seventh career triple, breaking the previous old record of 6 career triples set by Danny Flahie and Chaz Palmer.

· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Monday, Barker ranks fifth in the nation in slugging percentage (.818) and 21st in home runs per game (0.281).


· All ten NSAA conference members are heading into their final week of conference play this week. 

· Bellevue (Neb.) (17-2 NSAA record) currently leads the NSAA by a half-game over second-place Jamestown (N.D.) (16-3).

· Waldorf (Iowa) is third with 12-8 record.  Dickinson State (N.D.), Dakota State (S.D.) and Mayville State (N.D.) all have 10 conference victories (fourth through sixth).

· Valley City State (N.D.) and Viterbo (Wis.) both have seven conference wins, followed by Presentation (S.D.) ninth (4-16) and Winnipeg (Manitoba) tenth (3-16).
