JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) could not overcome Viterbo (Wis.) four-run fourth inning Saturday afternoon in the Bracket B loser's out game of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Baseball Postseason Tournament at Jack Brown Stadium.  The V-Hawks held off the Trojans 7-4, ending DSU's baseball season.

Both team did not sure in the first two innings of the game before the VU took the first lead of the game.  Brandon Alvarez hit a single with two outs in the bottom third frame.  Mannie De La Rosa reached on base by a walk and advanced Alvarez to second base.  Vince Lozano produced an RBI single to score Alvarez for Viterbo's 1-0 lead.

The Trojans answered back with a run scored in the top fourth inning.  Ian Barker and Jacob Arlt hit back-to-back singles.  Barker advanced to third base after Jamie Jorgensen's fly out to center field.  A passed ball by the V-Hawks allowed Barker to score as DSU knotted the game at 1-1.

Viterbo plated four runs in the bottom fourth inning, highlighted by Alvarez's 2-run home run to extend their lead to 5-1.

Barker smashed a 2-run home run in the top sixth inning as Dakota State trimmed their deficit to 5-3.  It was Barker's tenth home run of the season.

DSU cut Viterbo's lead to 5-4 in the top eighth inning.  Jake Harris led off with a single.  Jacob Arlt hit a double and advanced Jalen Boyd, courtesy runner for Harris, to third base.  Jorgensen produced an RBI ground out to score Boyd.

De La Rosa hit a 2-RBI single in the bottom eighth inning as the V-Hawks' lead grew to 7-4.

The Trojans went 1-2-3 in the final inning as VU advanced to another loser's out game against No. 2 seed Jamestown (N.D.), who lost to No. 6 seed Mayville State (N.D.) 3-2 Saturday.

Barker went 2-of-4 at the plate with a home run, single and drove in two runs for Dakota State.  Arlt and Tony Poncia each recorded a double and single.  Harris, Dylan Colman and Tyler Ratkie each had a single.  Jorgensen earned an RBI.

Alvarez was 3-of-4 at the plate with a home run, two singles and two RBIs for Viterbo.  Vince Lozano and Angel Ramos each added two hits and an RBI.  Cody Fisher, Adam Lowe and Brent Stoughtenger each hit two singles.

VU outhit DSU 14-9 in the game.  Both teams made two double plays defensively.

Garrison Collier (L, 3-2) took the loss on the pitching mound for DSU.  He worked for six innings and allowed five runs on ten hits.  Richard Sternberg tossed two innings in relief and gave up two runs on four hits.

Zach Benson (W, 4-5) recorded the victory after pitching seven innings.  He allowed three runs on seven hits.  Jon Grana (S, 2) earned the save in relief.  He worked for two innings and gave up one run on two hits.

Dakota State ended their season with an overall record of 20-27.  The Trojans were third overall in the NSAA conference games standings with 13-10 record.  Saturday's game marked the last collegiate baseball game for DSU's eight seniors—Barker, Travis Fleming, Luke Gassman, Harris, Jorgensen, Poncia, Tyler Pruszynski and Ratkie.
