NORTH SIOUX CITY, Iowa – All fourteen Dakota State University (S.D.) cross country runners completed its season-best time Saturday morning in the Briar Cliff (Iowa) Invitational at Adams Nature Preserve.  

A total of 168 runners competed in the women's 5K race, with all four Trojan women's runners setting season-best times from the Herb Blakley Invitational on Sept. 10.  Karen Mayfield led the Trojans with a 66th-place finish with a time of 20 minutes, improving from her previous season-best time of 21:13. 

Ashley Robinson placed 115th with a new personal best time of 21:40.  Victoria Sopko clocked a time of 22 minutes for a 125th-place finish (improving her season-best time of 23 minutes).  Tyra Laws was 137th in 22:40 (season-best time since Sept. 10 in Madison with a time of 23:32).

DSU did not field a complete team for the team scoring in the women's division.  Morningside (Iowa) won the team title with a low score of 81, followed by NCAA Division II Sioux Falls (S.D.) second with 88 points.  Unattached runner Leah Seivert won the individual title with a time of 17 minutes, 16 seconds.

Dakota State finished 11th overall in the men's division, recording a score of 283 points.  The Trojans – which was the second-best team from the state of South Dakota in the cross country meet (Sioux Falls, S.D. finished third overall in the meet with 88 points) – finished ahead of Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.), Mount Marty (S.D.) and Briar Cliff (Iowa) in the team standings.  Northwestern (Iowa) won the team title with a team score of 51 points, led by Will Norris who won the individual title in 24:55.

A total of 157 runners completed the men's 8K race.

The Trojans are led by three freshmen with Braden Curnow with a 38th-place finish in 27 minutes.  He improved his personal best time of 27:38 set at Herb Blakely Invitational.  Alex Derr was 60th with a personal best time of 27:39 (previous best was 29 minutes in DSU's home meet on Sept. 10).  Maxwell Cruse was 75th with his personal record time of 27:54 (previous best was 29:45 on Sept. 10).

Mark Moeller recorded a season-best time of 28 minutes, 21 seconds (previous best was 30:20 at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 24) for an 87th-place finish for DSU.  Cameron Harming clocked his personal best time of 28 minutes, 37 seconds to finish 91st (previous best – 29:42 on Sept. 10), followed by Michael Carson's 92nd place finish in season-best time of 28 minutes 38 seconds (previous best season time – 29:31 on Sept. 10).

Dakota State's Taylor Hauge ran for the first time this season, recording a season-best of 28 minutes, 54 seconds for a 103rd place finish.  Jonathan Lein was 123rd with his personal best time of 30:02 (previous best was 30:47 on Sept. 10).  Corey Hermann placed 126th with a season-best time of 30:11 (previous season-best was 31:27 at Herb Blakely Invitational).  Caleb Hemphill recorded also recorded a season-best time of 30:31 for a 129th place finish (previous season-best time was 31:23 at Herb Blakely Invitational).

Dakota State will take a week off before returning back to action.  The Trojans are scheduled to run in the Mount Marty (S.D.) Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 22.  The meet will be held in Yankton, S.D.
