Dakota State University cross country teams took a week off last week. The Trojans will return back to action on Saturday. DSU will prepare for their tough test at the Briar Cliff Invitational. The meet will be held at the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve in McCook Lake, S.D. The women's race starts at 10 a.m. with the men's to follow at approximately 10:45 a.m.
The meet will expect over 15 teams and 370 runners combined. NCAA Division II University of Nebraska-Omaha and Wayne State are expected to make an appearance at the meet. The members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference - Concordia (Neb.), Briar Cliff, Dakota Wesleyan, Doane, Dordt, Hastings, Midland Lutheran, Morningside, Mount Marty, Northwestern (Iowa) and University of Sioux Falls - are expected to compete in the meet. DAC's Black Hills State and Dakota State along with Iowa Lakes Community College are also involved in the meet.
There are three ranked teams in the women's meet. Concordia (Neb.) ranks No. 11 in the latest NAIA Women's Cross Country national poll released on Wednesday. Black Hills State ranks No. 15 and Morningside is No. 16. Northwestern (Iowa) received honorable mention to the national poll.
On the men's side, a team ranks in the top 10 in the NAIA Men's Cross Country poll. Concordia (Neb.) ranks No. 9. Dakota State, Black Hills State, Dordt and Morningside received votes to the national poll.
