GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK

· No. 14-ranked Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan men's basketball team (2-3 overall record) looks to swing back in the winning column with a pair of games next week.

· The Trojans kick off their eight-game stretch away from the DSU Fieldhouse, making their first stop in Ellendale, N.D. Tuesday evening.  DSU visits Trinity Bible (N.D.) (2-1 overall record) with a tip-off starting at 7:30 p.m.  The game will be held at Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse (50 Sixth Avenue).

· Next Saturday on Nov. 19, Dakota State plays the NAIA's Top 25 nationally-ranked team for the third time this month.  The Trojans travel to Newman Flanagan Center (3303 Rebecca St.) in Sioux City, Iowa to take on No. 4-ranked Briar Cliff (Iowa) (3-0).  Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.

TROJANS START 8-GAME STRETCH AWAY FROM HOME

· Starting Tuesday, Dakota State (S.D.) will start their eight-game stretch away from the DSU Fieldhouse.

· After the game at Briar Cliff (Iowa) next Saturday, the Trojans will play a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference teams in the two-day Draemel Classic hosted by Midland (Neb.) during Thanksgiving break.

· DSU kicks off their North Star Athletic Association conference play with their first four games on the road, starting at Presentation (S.D.) on Dec. 2.

· The Trojans return home on Dec. 16-17 versus Waldorf (Iowa) and Viterbo (Wis.).

DSU DROPS PAIR OF NAIA'S TOP 25 BATTLES

· Dakota State (S.D.) fell to No. 25-ranked Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in the South Dakota NAIA Classic at the Pentagon on Nov. 5.

· The Tigers shot a blazing 58 percent from the field compared to the Trojans 40.3 percent.

· Tanner Heiser led DSU with 17 points.  Kevin Daniels added 16 points.  Kyle Kilgore had 13 points.  Ian Barse scored 10 points.

· Dakota State fell to 0-2 record against NAIA's Top 25 ranked teams on Nov. 9, dropping a 73-63 contest to No. 21-ranked Midland (Neb.) at DSU Fieldhouse.

· After a see-saw battle with 8 lead changes and 4 ties in the first half with MU leading by one point at halftime, the Warriors outscored the Trojans 34-25 in the second-half.

· Four Dakota State scored in double figures, led by Brendon Boomsma with 15 points from his 5-of-10 3-point field goal shooting.  Barse posted a double-double of 10 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.

· Justin Folkers and Bobby Farquah each added 10 points for the Trojans.

TROJANS SET SEASON-HIGHS & 3-POINT RECORD MARK IN WIN OVER LANCERS

· Dakota State (S.D.) hit a team school record for most 3-pointers made in a single game, draining a total of 19 3-pointers in 98-78 victory over in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) at the South Dakota NAIA Classic at the Pentagon on Nov. 6.

· The Trojans set season-highs in points (98), field goal percentage (54.5 percent), 3-point field goals made (19), 3-point field goal percentage (61.3 percent), free-throw percentage (70.0 percent), rebounds (36) and assists (29).

· Heiser recorded a double-double of 25 assists and dished out 10 assists for DSU.  Barse added 19 points.  Heiser and Barse each made five 3-pointers in the game.

· DSU outscored MMC 28-10 inside the paint, 16-7 in points off turnovers and 28-25 in bench points. 

· Dakota State outrebounded Mount Marty 36-31. 

HEISER TABS AS NSAA PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

· Tanner Heiser of Dakota State (S.D.) was honored as the first recipient of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week, announced by the conference office Monday.

· He scored in double figures in the first four games of the season, including a career-high 35 points in DSU's 90-89 buzzer-beater over Northwestern (Iowa) on Oct. 27.

· Heiser posted double-double of 25 points and dished out 10 assists in Trojans' 98-78 victory over Mount Marty (S.D.) at the Pentagon.  He was 9-of-12 from the field and 5-of-7 from the 3-point arc).

· For the week, he averaged 20.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game for Dakota State.  He was 23-of-36 from the field (63.9 percent) and 10-of-19 from the 3-point line (52.6 percent).

TROJANS' OFFENSE IN THE RANKS

· Dakota State (S.D.) leads the nation in assist/turnover ratio of 2.2.  The Trojans dished out a total of 96 assists in the first five games, which is the sixth most assists in the nation.  DSU only committed a total of 43 turnovers.

· Ian Barse ranks 19th in the nation in assist/turnover ratio of 5.0 for DSU.  Heiser is 16th in the nation in total assists with 23 while teammate Kevin Daniels ranks 48th in the nation with 16 total assists.

· The Trojans accumulated a total of 48 3-pointers, ranking DSU No. 16 in the NAIA for most 3-pointers made.

· Heiser is third in the nation in 3-pointers made with 19. 

TROJANS TEAM LEADERS

· Points:  Tanner Heiser—103 points (20.6 points per game)

· Field Goal Percentage:  Kyle Kilgore—61.5 percent (16-of-26 field goals)

· 3-point Field Goal Percentage:  Tanner Heiser—50.0 percent (19-of-38 3-point field goals)

· Free-throw percentage:  Kevin Daniels—73.3 percent (11-of-15 free-throws)

· Rebounds:  Ian Barse—25 rebounds (5.0 rebounds per game)

· Assists:  Tanner Heiser—23 assists (4.6 assists per game)

· Steals:  Tanner Heiser—8 steals (1.6 steals per game)

· Blocked shots:  Bobby Farquah—4 blocks (0.8 blocked shots per game)

TROJANS' PRODUCTION IN VICTORIES

· Dakota State (S.D.) averages 94.0 points per game in their two victories this season, shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 50.9 percent from the 3-point line.

· The Trojans posts an impressive 23.0 assists per game in their two wins this season over Northwestern (Iowa) and Mount Marty (S.D.).

· DSU forced those two opponents with 26 total turnovers (13.0 turnovers per game).  The Trojans recorded 14 steals in two wins, averaging 7.0 steals per game.
