MADISON, S.D. – Two Dakota State (S.D.) players are listed on the 2016-17 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team, announced by the conference office Tuesday.

A total of fifteen (15) players are listed on the North Star Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team.  Tanner Heiser and Kyle Kilgore are two of the six players that are listed on the 2015-16 NSAA Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams.

Heiser, 6-foot guard, was honored as Second Team All-Conference last season.  In 2015-16 (31 games), he averaged 10.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game for the Trojans.

Heiser leads the team with 16.8 points per game in nine games this season for DSU.  He also averages 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game.  According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Thursday, he ranks 26th in the nation in 3-point field goals made with 26 and 43rd in total steals with 15.

Heiser was named to the first edition of the 2016-17 North Star Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week on Nov. 7.  He posted a double-double of 25 points (9-of-12 field goals, including 5-of-7 3-pointers) and dished out 10 assists in 98-78 victory over in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) at the Pentagon on Nov. 6.  He also had 17 points versus Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Nov. 5 and 18 points versus Dordt (Iowa) on Nov. 1.

He poured in a career-high 35 points (13-of-24 field goals) in Trojans' 90-89 home opener thriller over Northwestern (Iowa) on Oct. 27 at DSU Fieldhouse.

This season, Heiser is 57-of-109 field goals (52.3 percent) and 26-of-61 (42.6 percent) from the 3-point line for Dakota State.

Tanner is the son of Ron and Pam Heiser of Watertown, S.D.  He is a senior Professional Accountancy major at Dakota State University.

Kilgore, 6-foot-7 forward, was named to 2015-16 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball All-American Second Team.  He also was chosen as NSAA Men's Basketball Most Valuable Player, Newcomer of the Year and named to All-Conference First Team last season.

He led the Trojans with 15.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game during the 2015-16 season.  He also recorded a total of 13 double-doubles during the season, which was the most double-doubles in the North Star conference.

Kilgore averages 15.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game (5 games) this season for DSU.  He is 34-of-48 from the field (70.8 percent).  He scored in double digits four times this season.

Kyle is the son of Eric and Pam Kilgore of Adrian, Minn.  He is a senior Physical Education major at Dakota State University.

Dakota State (3-6 overall record) continues their action on the road, starting their North Star conference play with four straight games on the road.  The Trojans make their first stop at Presentation (S.D.) Friday evening with a 7:30 p.m. starting time.  The game is slated to play at the Strode Center in Aberdeen, S.D.
