FOREST CITY, Iowa – Waldorf (Iowa) earned its first and only lead of the game in the North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball conference game at Hanson Fieldhouse Friday evening, it was all Dakota State (S.D.) after that.  After taking an eight-point lead by the end of the first quarter, the Lady T's outscored the Warriors 25-7 in the second quarter to propel to a 76-49 road victory.

It was the second straight North Star conference victory for the Lady T's.  It was also the third win in the last four games as Dakota State raised their overall record to 7-17 and 4-7 NSAA conference record (sixth-place in the standings).  Waldorf dropped their 12th straight game, falling to 2-22 overall record and winless in 12 NSAA conference games.

Morgan Straight made a field goal to give WU its first lead of the game with nine minutes ad twenty-two seconds left in the opening quarter.  The Lady T's answered back by scoring five straight points, thanks to a 3-pointer by Kennedy Wagner and a field goal by Britley Plautz for a 5-2 lead with 7:22 on the clock.

Tied at 14-14, Dakota State closed the first period by scoring eight straight points in the final 3:15.  The Lady T's took a 22-14 lead over the Warriors.

DSU stretched its scoring run to 14-0 into the early second quarter to grab a 28-14 lead with 7:37 on the clock after a lay-up by Jamie Tebben.

The Lady T's earned its biggest lead of the first-half at 47-21 when Kelley Criddle made a lay-up with 20 seconds remaining.

DSU shot a sizzling 50 percent from the field in the first-half, making 20-of-40 field goals to earn a 16-point lead.  The Lady T's were also 6-of-13 from the 3-point line.  Waldorf was held to 30.8 percent field goal shooting in the first-half (8-of-26).  WU was just 2-of-13 from the 3-point line in the first twenty minutes of the game.

Both teams struggled to score in the first five minutes of the third quarter where DSU held a 48-23 lead.  The Warriors could get no closer than 18 points at 51-33 with 2:18 left in the third period, while the Lady T's maintained their double-digit lead for the rest of the game.

DSU held a 58-35 lead after the third quarter.  The Lady T's outscored the Warriors 18-14 in the final quarter.

BreeAna Olson scored a game-high 22 points for the Lady T's – with 17 points coming in the first-half.  She was 9-of-16 from the field and 3-of-4 free-throws.  Wagner added 14 points where she was 4-of-8 from the 3-point arc.  Lindsey Vogl added nine points.  Tebben and Criddle each scored eight points off the bench. 

Plautz earned nine rebounds and recorded two blocks for DSU.  Tebben tallied eight rebounds.  Wagner and Criddle each had four rebounds.

Wagner and Olson each dished out four assists for Dakota State.  Tebben and Olson each stole the ball five times.

Straight led the Warriors with 14 points.  Ameh Ogbemudia added 12 points and registered three blocked shots.  Meriel Leavy scored eight points.

Taylor Fricke pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for WU.  Nichole Oberthien had six rebounds.

Leavy produced four assists for Waldorf.  Oberthien had two steals.

Dakota State shot 39.7 percent overall from the field (29-of-73) compared to Waldorf 34 percent (17-of-50).  The Lady T's were 8-of-24 3-pointers (33.3 percent), while holding the Warriors to 4-of-22 from the 3-point line (18.2 percent).

DSU was 10-of-14 free-throws (71.4 percent) compared to WU 11-of-18 from the free-throw line (61.1 percent).

The Lady T's won the rebounding battle, outrebounding the Warriors 43-41.  Dakota State outscored Waldorf 17-4 in second-chance points.

DSU outscored WU 28-8 in points off turnovers, 36-22 inside the paint and 29-25 in bench points.

Dakota State concludes their four-game road trip with another North Star conference action Saturday afternoon.  The Lady T's visit Viterbo (Wis.) at R.W. Beggs Gymnasium in La Crosse, Wis.  Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
