MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has selected Dakota State's (S.D.) BreeAna Olson as its Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week, the No. 13 installment of the weekly honor was announced by the conference office Monday.

Olson – 5-foot-8 guard – averaged 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game as the Lady T's went 2-0 record for the week.  She was 18-of-32 from the field (56.3 percent) and 11-of-16 from the free-throw line (68.8 percent) from those two combined games.

Olson scored 22 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, stole the ball 5 times and dished out 4 assists in Dakota State's 76-49 road victory at Waldorf (Iowa) on Feb. 3.  She was 9-of-16 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.

She followed that up with by tying her career-high of 28 points (last time she scored 28 points on Jan. 14 at Bellevue, Neb.) in DSU's 68-58 come-from-behind overtime victory at Viterbo (Wis.) on Feb. 4.  Olson also had 5 rebounds and 3 assists.  She was 9-of-16 from the field and made 8-of-12 free-throws.   

Olson scored at least 20 points six times in the last eight games for Dakota State.  The Lady T's had won three straight North Star Athletic Association conference games and recorded its fourth win in the last five games after the victory at VU.

According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Monday, Olson ranks 16th in the nation in steals with 64.  She also ranks 28th in the NAIA in steals per game with an average of 2.6 steals.  She accumulated 273 career steals at DSU, currently the third most career steals in DSU Lady T's school record book.

Olson ranks 39th in the nation in free-throw percentage (80.2 percent), where she hit 73 free-throws in 91 attempts this season for the Lady T's. 

She is 40th in the NAIA in total scoring with 391 points for DSU.  She leads the team with 15.6 points per game.  Olson amassed 1,384 career points at Dakota State, the fifth most career points in the Lady T's Basketball record book.

BreeAna is the daughter of DaNeil Olson and the late Reggie Olson of Nunda, S.D.  She is a senior Physical Education major at Dakota State University.

Dakota State (8-17 overall record, 5-7 North Star Athletic Association conference record) returns home Friday evening to kick off their four-game home stand at DSU Fieldhouse.  The Lady T's host No. 23-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) on Friday night at 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday, DSU hosts Valley City State (N.D.) at 3 p.m.  The Lady T's basketball team will be holding their Parents Night ceremony at approximately 10-15 minutes prior to the game.
