GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK

· The Dakota State University (S.D.) men's basketball team (13-13 overall record, 6-6 NSAA) returns back home to the DSU Fieldhouse to kick off their four-game North Star Athletic Association home stand with a pair of games this weekend.

· The Trojans' four-game home stand will wrap up the regular-season before the North Star Men's Basketball Postseason Conference Tournament kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 23.

· Dakota State hosts the NSAA's conference leader Dickinson State (N.D.) (19-8, 10-3 NSAA), who received votes recognition to the NAIA Division II Coaches' Top 25 national poll, on Friday evening.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.  Prostrollo Auto Mall will be the Game Sponsor Night.

· On Saturday, the Trojans host Valley City State (N.D.) (14-12, 6-6 NSAA) in a key crucial NSAA conference game.  The game is set to tip off at 5 p.m.

· The Trojan men's basketball team will be holding their brief Parents' Night ceremony on Saturday during warm-ups.  The ceremony will start at approximately 10-minute mark on the warm-up clock.

· Dakota State (S.D.) will provide a free live video and audio broadcast of the Trojans' basketball games on Friday and Saturday.

DSU TROJANS EARN SPLIT ON ROAD

· Dakota State (S.D.) earned a weekend split on their final North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) road trip last weekend.

· School records fell in Trojans' 90-55 victory at Waldorf (Iowa) on Feb. 3.  DSU drained a total of 19 3-pointers, tying the school record for most 3-pointers in a single game.

· It was the eighth win in the last ten games after the victory at WU.  It was also the fourth straight victory in the series meeting with the Warriors.

· Trailing 18-17, DSU outscored WU 28-10 in the final 8:10 of the half.  The Trojans never looked back as they outscored the Warriors 45-27 in the final twenty minutes of the game.

· Tanner Heiser set a new DSU school record for most 3-pointers made in a game with 11 3-pointers.  He finished the game by pouring in 35 points (tied for career-high).

· Three other Trojans scored in double figures.  Falcon Albers scored a season-high 14 points off the bench.  Brendon Boomsma added 13 points.  Kyle Kilgore had 11 points.

· Kilgore had six rebounds for the Trojans.  Ian Barse and Nathaniel Rauen each added five rebounds.  Kevin Daniels had five assists.

· DSU shot 50 percent from the field (32-of-64) compared to WU 30.5 percent (18-of-59).

· The Trojans fell short to Viterbo (Wis.) by the score of 66-61 on Feb. 6 in La Crosse, Wis., where the V-Hawks closed the game with a 6-1 run.

· Heiser led DSU with 19 points on his 7-of-13 field goal shooting (4-of-7 from the 3-point line).  He had five assists and two steals.  Kilgore added 12 points.  Barse scored nine points.

· Kilgore led Dakota State with eight rebounds.  Boomsma had six rebounds.

· VU shot 46.2 percent overall from the field (24-of-52) compared to DSU 44.6 percent (25-of-56).  DSU was 9-of-24 3-pointers, while VU was 6-of-16 from the 3-point line.

· Both teams registered 31 rebounds in the game.

HEISER HONORED BY NSAA CONFERENCE

· Tanner Heiser of Dakota State (S.D.) was honored by the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) for the second time this season as its Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.

· He averaged 27.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals as the Trojans went 1-1 record for the week.

· Heiser went monstrous beyond the 3-point line, where he drained a total of 15 3-pointers in 23 attempts (65.2 percent) for the weekend.  He finished the week by shooting a blazing 63.3 percent from the field (19-of-30).

· Heiser poured in 35 points in DSU's 90-55 road victory at Waldorf (Iowa), where he was 12-of-17 from the field and set a new school record with 11 3-pointers made.

· His 35 points tied for his career high, where he also scored 35 points in DSU's home opener versus Northwestern (Iowa) on Oct. 27.

· He followed that up with 19 points on his 7-of-13 field goals and 4-of-7 3-point field goals, despite a 66-61 road defeat at Viterbo (Wis.).

DSU RECORDS FALL AT WALDORF (IOWA)

· Dakota State (S.D.) tied the DSU school record for most 3-pointers made in a single game.  The Trojans made a total of 19 3-pointers in 90-55 offensive explosion at Waldorf (Iowa).

· It was the second time that DSU nailed down 19 3-pointers in the game.  The last time was on Nov. 6 when Dakota State (S.D.) made 19 3-pointers in 98-78 victory over in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) at the Sanford Pentagon.

· Tanner Heiser broke a 30-year old DSU school record for most 3-pointers made in a game with 11 3-pointers.  The previous record was set by Rick Dunlap with 10 3-pointers versus Dordt (Iowa) in 1986-87.

· Points:  Kyle Kilgore—398 points (18.1 points per game)

· Field Goal Percentage:  Justin Folkers—59.7 percent (126-of-211 field goals)

· 3-point Field Goal Percentage:  Tanner Heiser—40.1 percent (71-of-177 3-point field goals)

· Free-throw percentage:  Kevin Daniels—80.4 percent (45-of-56 free-throws)

· Rebounds:  Kyle Kilgore—182 rebounds (8.3 rebounds per game)

· Assists:  Tanner Heiser—111 assists—(4.3 assists per game)

· Steals:  Tanner Heiser—48 steals (1.9 steals per game)

· Blocked shots:  Bobby Farquah—15 blocks (0.6 blocked shots per game)

NSAA CONFERENCE STANDINGS UPDATE

· Dickinson State (N.D.) (10-3 record) holds a half-game lead over Bellevue (Neb.) (9-3) in the NSAA conference standings.  Jamestown (N.D.) is third with 9-4 record.

· Viterbo (Wis.) (7-6) is fourth with a half-game lead over Dakota State (S.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.), both with 6-6 record.

· Waldorf (Iowa) is seventh with 5-7 NSAA record, while Presentation (S.D.) is eighth with 3-9 record.  Mayville State (N.D.) is ninth with 1-12 conference record.
