BROOKINGS, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) placed sixth at the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Indoor Track & Field Conference meet Saturday, held at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on the campus of South Dakota State University.  The Trojans scored 15 points in the conference meet.

Jamestown (N.D.) won the team title with 203 points.  Dickinson State (N.D.) was second with 154 points.  Viterbo (Wis.) was third with 102 points, followed by Waldorf (Iowa) fourth with 40 points and Valley City State (N.D.) fifth with 39 points.  Saturday's meet was the final opportunity for the competitors to post a national qualifying mark for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Kylie Martin produced a pair of personal records at the conference meet in the throwing events.  She tossed a new DSU school record in the shot put, throwing a measurement of 12.50 meters (or 41 feet, .25 inches) to earn a fourth-place finish.  The previous old record was set by Jacqueline Kuyper with a measurement of 40 feet, 1.75 inches in 2004.

Martin was just .40 meters short of producing a national qualifying mark in the shot put.

She added a fourth-place finish in the weight throw, producing a new personal best mark of 14.41 meters (or 47 feet, 3.5 meters) for the Trojans.

Megan Schrempp clocked her personal record time of 8.22 seconds to gain a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter dash prelims for Dakota State.  She advanced to the finals.  Breanna Adsit was 10th overall with a season-best time of 8.44 seconds.

Schrempp placed eighth in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 8.26 seconds for the Trojans.

She also recoded a personal-best time of 27.67 seconds to place seventh in the 200-meter dash for DSU.  Adsit was 12th overall in 28.87 seconds.

DSU's Mercedes Jochims ran a time of 6 minutes, 49.70 seconds to earn a fifth-place finish in the one-mile run race.

A pair of runners - Victoria Sopko and Tyra Laws – produced a season-best time in the 600-meter run.  Sopko was ninth with a time of 1 minute, 49.99 seconds, followed by Laws with an 11th-place finish in 1:56.24.

Sopko added a season-best time of 2:37.46 to place sixth in the 800-meter run for Dakota State.  Laws added a 10th-place finish with a time of 2:56.53.

The Trojan 4 x 400-meter relay team – Schrempp, Adsit, Laws and Sopko – clocked a time of 4 minutes, 29.96 seconds to finish fourth.

The North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championship meet officially concludes the indoor track season.  The outdoor track & field season kicks off on March 24-25 as they head to Wayne, Neb. for the Wildcat Classic.
