GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK

· The Dakota State University (S.D.) Lady T's basketball team (8-21 overall record) begins their postseason play in the North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball Conference Tournament Wednesday evening.

· The Lady T's travel to Scott Gymnasium for a quarterfinal action versus No. 21-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) (22-6 overall record).

· Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. (Central Time)/7 p.m. (Mountain Time) in Dickinson, N.D.

· Dakota State is the No. 7 seed in the conference postseason tournament, while Dickinson State is the No. 2 seed.

· Wednesday's quarterfinal winners will move on to the semifinals round of the North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball Postseason Conference Tournament.  The semifinals round is scheduled for Friday evening at two higher seeds remaining.

LADY T'S ON THE ROAD

· Dakota State (S.D.) has won three times in the last four road games during the regular-season.

· The Lady T's had won the last two North Star conference games on the road, defeating Waldorf (Iowa) on Feb. 3 and come-from-behind to defeat Viterbo (Wis.) in overtime thriller on Feb. 4 in La Crosse, Wis.

DSU CLOSES OUT HOME SCHEDULE

· Dakota State (S.D.) closed out their regular-season schedule last weekend at DSU Fieldhouse, falling short to Bellevue (Neb.) and Mayville State (N.D.) in North Star conference action.

· The Bruins outrebounded the Lady T's 55-36 on Feb. 17, recording a 66-52 victory.

· Both DSU and BU exchanged leads five times and tied the game three times during the first period.  Bellevue went on to hold a 31-23 halftime advantage over Dakota State.

· The Lady T's were able to pull within three points on several occasions in the third quarter, but the Bruins pulled away in the final quarter.  BU outscored DSU 22-14 in the last ten minutes of the game.

· Britley Plautz led Dakota State weith 10 points.  Lindsey Vogl added nine points off the bench after draining three 3-pointers.  Cassie Jones and Kennedy Wagner each had eight points.

· Plautz, Vogl and Kelsey Poppen each collected five rebounds for DSU.  Jones dished out a game-high five assists.  BreeAna Olson stole the ball two times.

· Both teams struggled from the field, with Bellevue shooting 30.6 percent (19-of-62 field goals) compared to Dakota State 30.4 percent (17-of-56 field goals).

· MSU shot 47.2 percent overall from the field in 77-68 victory over DSU in both teams regular-season finale at DSU Fieldhouse on Feb. 18.

· Olson finished with a game-high 26 points in her final regular-season career collegiate home game at DSU Fieldhouse.  She was 9-of-13 from the field, 2-of-5 3-pointers and made both free-throw attempts.

· Jamie Tebben and Plautz each had eight points for the Lady T's.  Wagner and Olson each produced five assists.  Plautz recorded three blocked shots and grabbed ten rebounds.

· The Comets were 25-of-53 from the field while the Lady T's were 24-of-65 (36.9 percent).  DSU finished the game by making all 16 free-throw attempts.  Mayville State was 17-of-22 free-throws.

NSAA TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

· Jamestown (N.D.) (15-1 NSAA record) is the top seed when the 2017 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Basketball  Postseason Tournament begins Wednesday.

· Number two seed belongs to Dickinson State (N.D.) (14-2 NSAA record), while Valley City State (N.D.) is the No. 3 seed (13-3 North Star conference record) for the postseason conference tournament.

· Bellevue (Neb.) and Mayville State (N.D.) ended up in a two-way tie for fourth place in the conference standings with a 9-7 record.  The Bruins won the coin toss over the Comets for the No. 4 seed.

· The top four seeds all host the first round games on Wednesday evening.

· Presentation (S.D.) and Dakota State (S.D.) were in a two-way tie for sixth-place in the conference standings with a 5-11 record.  The Saints won the coin toss tiebreaker to earn the No. 6 seed.

· Viterbo (Wis.) is the No. 8 seed in the conference tournament, while Waldorf (Iowa) is eliminated from postseason.  The top eight teams in the conference standings advance to the postseason tournament.

· The semifinals are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24 at the highest two remaining seeds. The NSAA Championship game is set for Sunday at the highest remaining seed.

· The NSAA Postseason Tournament Champion earns an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Tournament on March 8-14 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

DSU LADY T'S TEAM LEADERS

· Points:  BreeAna Olson—15.1 points per game (439 total points—49th in the nation)

· Field Goal Percentage:  Britley Plautz—44.8 percent (74-of-165 field goals)

· 3-point Field Goal Percentage:  Lindsey Vogl—42.6 percent (29-of-68 3-point field goals)

· Free-throw percentage:  Kennedy Wagner—86.2 percent—10th in the nation (81-of-94 free-throws)

· Rebounds:  Britley Plautz—197 rebounds (6.9 rebounds per game)

· Assists:  Kennedy Wagner—77 assists (2.8 assists per game)

· Steals:  BreeAna Olson—75 steals (2.6 steals per game—22nd in the nation)

· Blocked shots:  Britley Plautz—63 blocked shots—4th in the nation (2.2 blocked shots per game—6th in the nation)

DSU IN THE RANKS

· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Tuesday, Dakota State ranks 4th in the NAIA Division II in total blocks with 139 and 6th in blocks per game (4.8 blocks per game).

· DSU's Kennedy Wagner is 10th in the nation in free-throw percentage (86.2 percent).  BreeAna Olson also ranks 25th in the nation with a 81.7 free-throw percentage.
