NAIA PRESS RELEASE

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 286 Division II women's basketball student-athletes have been named 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.  Dakota State (S.D.) have three (3) individuals on the list. 

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The three Dakota State University Lady T's athletes that are listed on the national academic list are (name, position, year, parents' name, hometown, major at Dakota State University):

  • BreeAna Olson – guard – senior – DaNeil Olson – Nunda, S.D. – Physical Education
  • Kelsey Poppen – forward – junior – Luke and Janice Poppen – De Smet, S.D. – Elementary Education
  • Madison Walford – forward – junior – Ron Walford and Russ and Nicole Claussen – Devils Lake, N.D. – Marketing
