NAIA PRESS RELEASE

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 175 Division II men's basketball student-athletes have been named 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.  Dakota State (S.D.) have two (2) athletics receiving this prestigious academic honor from the national office.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The two Dakota State University Trojan Men's Basketball athletes that are listed on the national academic list are (name, position, year, parents' name, hometown, major at Dakota State University):

  • Brendon Boomsma – guard – junior – Terry and Stacey Boomsma – Crooks, S.D. – Exercise Science
  • Tanner Heiser – guard – senior – Ron and Pam Heiser – Watertown, S.D. – Professional Accountancy
