GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK

· The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan Baseball team (1-11 overall record, 1-3 North Star Athletic Association conference record) continues their North Star action on the road with another four-game series this weekend.

· The Trojans travels to Waldorf (Iowa) (7-23 overall record, 0-4 NSAA conference record) in Forest City, Iowa.

· The North Star's four-game series will be played at Forest City High School Baseball Field (206 W School Street).  The baseball field's entire infield is artificially turfed, with traditional grass covering the outfield. 

· The four-game series begin with a twin-bill on Saturday at 1 p.m. and the final two-game set is scheduled for Sunday at 12 p.m.

FOLLOW THE TROJANS

· Waldorf (Iowa) will provide free live video and live stats/play-by-play of the baseball four-game series this weekend in Forest City, Iowa.

· Waldorf have set up four different links for live video webcast and live scoring this weekend.  Make sure you check the DSU Athletics' home page on www.dsuathletics.com to view the live coverage of the NSAA's four-game baseball series.

TROJANS RETURN HOME NEXT WEEK

· Dakota State (S.D.) is scheduled to return home next week to kick off their 12-game North Star home stand at Flynn Field.

· The Trojans begin their home stand on April 7 with a four-game series versus No. 8-ranked Bellevue (Neb.). 

· DSU continues their home stand with a four-game series versus Winnipeg (Manitoba) on April 14-15 and Valley City State (N.D.) on April 22-23.

· Dakota State concludes their home schedule with a four-game series versus Presentation (S.D.) on April 28-29.

DSU EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

· Dakota State (S.D.) kicked off their North Star Athletic Association Baseball conference season with a 5-0 shutout victory at Viterbo (Wis.) on March 25, earning their first win of the season.

· After two scoreless innings, the Trojans scored the first run of the game for a 1-0 lead.  Jalen Boyd and Smith Kemper each added an RBI single in the top fifth to extend DSU's lead to 3-0.

· Garrison Collier hit an inside-the-park home run in the top seventh frame to widen Dakota State's lead to 4-0.  Kemper added an RBI sacrifice fly to make it 5-0 in favor of the Trojans.

· Boyd was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four singles, an RBI and scored twice for DSU.  Collier registered a home run, an RBI, a walk and scored twice.  Kemper had a single and drove in two runs.  Juna Sermo hit a double.  Zach Sutera had a hit.

· DSU's Collier was impressive at the pitching mound after tossing seven innings for the victory.  He limited the V-Hawks to five singles and struck out six batters. 

· Dyshawn Proudlove notched his first save of the season after pitching two scoreless innings for Dakota State. 

· Viterbo won the last three games of the four-game series by the scores of 7-0, 8-6 and 11-5.

· Boyd batted .667 at the plate after going 4-of-6 with an RBI for the Trojans in the four-game series with the V-Hawks.  He was hit-by-pitch twice.  Kemper added a batting average of .429 (6-of-14) with a double and two RBIs.

· DSU's Sermo hit two doubles in the series with VU.  Collier registered a slugging percentage of .727 (1 double, 1 home run).  He reached on base by a walk three times.

· Kemper and Collier each swiped two bases for the Trojans in the four-game series at Viterbo.

· Dakota State recorded a fielding percentage of .938 during the series compared to Viterbo .929 fielding percentage.

· The V-Hawks tallied 32 hits in the game, while the Trojans had 29 hits.

TROJANS ON THE PITCHING MOUND/DEFENSE

· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Wednesday, Dakota State's (S.D.) Hayden Rainey ranks fourth in the nation in total walks allowed with four (4) from the pitching mound.

· Rainey also ranks sixth in the NAIA in total hits allowed with 17 for the Trojans.  He is also 18th-best in the nation in total earned runs allowed with seven (7).

· Garrison Collier and Jalen Boyd each ranks first in the nation in fielding percentage with 1.000.  Collier had 15 put-outs and 3 assists, while Boyd registered 30 put-outs and 12 assists.

· Collier recorded his first win of season on March 25 with a 5-0 shutout at Viterbo (Wis.).  Dyshawn Proudlove recorded his first save of the season after tossing two scoreless innings.  Both Collier and Boyd had a combined shutout game over the V-Hawks.

DSU OFFENSE IN THE RANKS

· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website, Dyshawn Proudlove ranks seventh in triples per game with an average of 0.2 triples.  He also ranks 46th in the NAIA in slugging percentage of .727.

· DSU's Jalen Boyd is seventh overall in the North Star in batting average of .400.  He is also fourth overall in hits per game with an average of 1.4 hits per game. 

· Garrison Collier ranks ninth in the NSAA in slugging percentage during conference games.  He recorded a slugging percentage of .727 after the four-game series at Viterbo (Wis.).  Collier is seventh in the North Star conference rankings in opponents' batting average with .200 from the pitching mound.
