GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK

· The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan Baseball team (1-15 overall record, 1-7 North Star Athletic Association conference record) stays on the road with another North Star's four-game series.

· The Trojans travel to Nebraska to take on the North Star's conference leader and nationally-ranked No. 5 Bellevue (Neb.) (29-6, 8-0 North Star conference record).  BU is currently on a 22-game winning streak.

· The four-game series kick off on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.  The doubleheader takes place at Westgate Field (8121 D Street) in Omaha, Neb.

· Both teams will conclude their four-game series with another doubleheader on Saturday.  The doubleheader will be held at Roddy Field/Bellevue East High School Baseball Field (1401 High School Drive) in Bellevue.

· Bellevue (Neb.) will provide live stats/play-by-play of the baseball four-game series this weekend with Dakota State (S.D.) in Omaha, Neb. and Bellevue, Neb. in Forest City, Iowa.

TROJANS' HOME OPENER PUSHED BACK

· Dakota State's (S.D.) season home opener has been pushed back to next weekend.

· DSU hosts Winnipeg (Manitoba) in the North Star's four-game series at Flynn Field on April 14 (Friday) and April 15 (Saturday).

· Next weekend will kick off the Trojans' eight-game home stand (host Valley City State, N.D. on April 22-23).

· After playing a non-conference game at South Dakota State on April 25, DSU concludes their home schedule with a four-game series versus Presentation (S.D.) on April 28-29.

WALODRF (IOWA) SWEEPS TROJANS

· Dakota State (S.D.) was unable to come up with a victory in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) four-game series at Waldorf (Iowa) last weekend.

· The Warriors outscored the Trojans 73-17 during the four-game series.  WU defeated DSU 28-4 in the series-opener and held off the Trojans 3-1 in the second game on April 1.

· Despite holding a 1-0 lead in the second game of the series, DSU fell short after the Warriors plated three runs in the bottom sixth frame.  Hayden Rainey tossed a complete game after giving up three runs on five hits for the Trojans.   Andrew Hesse had a double and an RBI in the game.

· DSU's Rainey limited Waldorf to .238 batting average in the second game of the series. 

· The Trojans scored six runs each after a doubleheader sweep by the Warriors on April 2.

· Hesse led Dakota State with a batting average of .364 in the four-game series at Waldorf.  He was 4-of-11 at the plate with two doubles.

· Connor Nagel, Garrison Collier, Juan Sermo, Garrett Mullins and Smith Kemper each had three hits in the series.  Mullins had two doubles for the Trojans.

· DSU's Sermo blasted a pair of home runs during the four-game series at WU.  He also drove in five runs.

· As a team, Dakota State registered a slugging percentage of .352 with eight doubles and two home runs.

· The Trojans recorded an on-base percentage of .314 during the four-game series at Waldorf.

· Zach Sutera and Sermo each led DSU's defense  with 11 put-outs in the four-game series at WU.  Mullins added 10 put-outs.

· Defensively, Kemper tallied six assists for Dakota State.  Nagel added four assists.  Sermo and Mullins each had 14 chances.

NSAA BASEBALL CONFERENCE STANDINGS UPDATE

· Dakota State (S.D.) is currently eighth in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Baseball conference standings with a 1-7 record.

· Bellevue (Neb.) leads the North Star with an undefeated 8-0 record. 

· Four teams are tied for second place in the NSAA conference standings with a 6-2 conference record.  They are Mayville State (N.D.), Jamestown (N.D.), Dickinson State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.).

· Waldorf (Iowa) is sixth in the standings with a 4-4 record, followed by Viterbo (Wis.) seventh with a 3-5 record.

· Presentation (S.D.) and Winnipeg (Manitoba) are both winless in eight NSAA conference games this season.

· The top eight teams in the North Star conference will advance to the postseason tournament.  The NSAA Baseball Postseason Conference Tournament will be held in Valley City, N.D. and Jamestown, N.D. from May 5 through May 9.

TROJANS IN THE RANKS

· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Wednesday, Dakota State's (S.D.) Hayden Rainey ranks 13th in the NAIA in total hits allowed with 22.

· He also ranks 28th in the nation in total walks allowed with seven for the Trojans.  He is 30th in the NAIA in total earned runs allowed with 10.

· DSU's David Kirby Ranks 43rd in the nation in total hits allowed with 29.

· Batting Average:  Jalen Boyd—.400 (14-of-35)

· Slugging Percentage:  Dyshawn Proudlove—.696 (2 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run)

· Triples:  Dyshawn Proudlove—2 triples

· Home runs:  Juan Sermo—2 home runs

· Runs Batted In (RBIs):  Garrett Mullins—10 RBIs

· Walks:  Connor Nagel—9 walks

· Hit-by-Pitch:  Andrew Hesse—3 hit-by-pitches

· Stolen Bases:  Smith Kemper—5 stolen bases

· On-base percentage:  Jalen Boyd—.447 on-base percentage
