MADISON, S.D. – Six Dakota State (S.D.) University Trojan men's basketball players are listed in the school record book after the 2016-17 season.  The Trojans had set three different new records this past winter.

Tanner Heiser, a two-time North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Men's Basketball Second Team All-Conference selection, is listed in the record book in ten (10) different categories.  He set the new DSU school record for most 3-pointers made in a single game with 11 3-pointers at Waldorf (Iowa) on Feb. 3.  He broke the 30-year old school record held by Rick Dunlap with 10 3-pointers made during the 1986-87 season versus Dordt (Iowa).

Heiser also tied for the seventh-most 3-pointers made in a single game with six former Trojan players (Bryant Allen, Dylan Hale twice, Shuan Wisdom twice, Sal Raphael, Bill Koerner and Jason Smidt) with seven (7) 3-pointers made.  He made seven 3-pointers during Trojans' home opener thrilling victory over Northwestern (Iowa) on Oct. 27, 2016.

Heiser is fifth in the Trojan Men's Basketball record book for most 3-pointers made with 152 3-pointers from 2015-17.  Ian Barse followed that up with the sixth-most career 3-pointers with 147 from 2014-17.  Brendon Boomsma is currently seventh with 132 3-pointers since 2014.

DSU's Heiser registered a career 3-point field goal percentage of 39 percent (152-of-390), which is sixth-best career 3-point field goal percentage in the school record book.  Boomsma records 38.3 percent from the 3-point line since the 2014-15 season, ranking him eighth-best in the Trojan Men's Basketball school record book.

Heiser poured in a total of 89 3-pointers during the 2016-17 season for Dakota State, ranking him as the third-most 3-pointers made in a single season in the record book.

The Trojans accumulated a total of 250 3-pointers made as a team in 2016-17 season, which is the second-most 3-point field goals made in a single-season.  DSU set a new school record for most 3-point field goal attempts with 720, breaking the previous record of 689 3-point field goal attempts in 2012-13.

Dakota State set a new team record for most 3-pointers made in a single-game twice during the 2016-17 season.  The Trojans drained a school-record 19 3-pointers versus Mount Marty (S.D.) on Nov. 6, 2016.  That fest happened again on Feb. 3 when the Trojans made 19 3-pointers at Waldorf.  The previous old school record was set in 2001-02 when DSU made 18 3-pointers versus Northwestern (Iowa).

Heiser is fifth in DSU Men's Basketball school record in both career assists with 285 and career steals with 104.  He is ninth in the single-season record book for most assists with 142, tying with Cameron Robinson from 2013-14.  Heiser also tied for ninth-most steals in a single season with Tyrone Gordon, Jr. (2012-13) with 57 steals.

Hesier tied for the third-most steals in a single game (Gordon, Jr. in 2012-13) versus Mount Marty on Jan. 29 with seven steals.  He also tied for eighth-most assists in a game versus MMC on Nov. 6, 2016.

Kevin Daniels recorded 11 assists in a game versus York (Neb.) on Dec. 30, 2016.  He is tied for fifth with two other athletes (Hesier in 2015-16 and Scot Namanny in 2000-01) for most assists in a single-game record.

Kyle Kilgore, two time NSAA All-Conference recipient and 2016 NAIA Men's Basketball All-American Second Team, pulled down a total of 513 career rebounds during his two years at Dakota State.  His 513 rebounds is the ninth most career rebounds in the school record book.

Kilgore also ranks fifth in the DSU Trojan Men's Basketball school record book for most career blocks with 46 from 2015-17.  He is also fifth in the career record book for best field goal percentage.  He converted 414 field goals in 714 attempts for a career field goal percentage of 58.0 percent.

Kilgore tied for the ninth most rebounds in a single game with two other former Trojans (Keith Biggers in 2011-12 and Bruce Koele in 1989-90), pulling down 18 rebounds at Jamestown (N.D.) on Dec. 4, 2016.

Justin Folkers tied for the second-best field goal percentage in a single-game for Dakota State.  He was perfect from the field, making 10-of-10 field goals versus York on Dec. 30, 2016.  He is tied with four other former Trojan athletes (Terrell Newton in 2012-13, Orion Garo in 2003-04, Randy Schaefer in 1981-82 and Myron Moen in 1965-66).

Dakota State is listed in several team records categories.  The Trojans scored a total of 2,414 points in 2016-17 season which is the fifth-most points in a single season.

DSU made a total of 925 field goals, the fourth most field goals made in a single season in the Trojan Men's Basketball record book.  Dakota State is also third in the single-season field goal attempts with 2,007.  DSU shot 46.1 percent from the field, which is tied for seventh-best single-season field goal percentage (2014-15 season).

Dakota State is seventh in most assists in a single-season with 480 assists.  The Trojans also tied for ninth-most assists in a single-game with 29 assists versus Mount Marty on Nov. 6, 2016.

DSU posted its eighth-best free-throw percentage as a team in a single season.  Dakota State made 314 free-throws in 448 attempts for 70.1 free-throw percentage.

Gary Garner had amassed a total of 136 victories as Dakota State Trojan Men's Basketball Head Coach, which is the second most coaching wins in Trojan Men's Basketball program history.  Garner also earned his 500th collegiate career victory during the season after defeating York in the Mike Miller Classic in Mitchell, S.D. on Dec. 30, 2016.
