· The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan Softball team (13-24 overall record, 4-14 North Star conference record) continues their busy schedule with eight games scheduled within a week. 

· The Trojans conclude their 10-game home stand Thursday and Friday, hosting Presentation (S.D.) (16-23 overall record, 5-11 North Star record) in a key NSAA's four-game series at Thue Softball Complex (South Egan Ave.).  The four-game series kick off on Thursday evening at 5 p.m. with a doubleheader and another doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m.

· DSU heads on the road to face another opponent from the state of South Dakota, traveling to Riverside Park  (200 Levee St.) to face Mount Marty (S.D.) (9-16 overall record) of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.  The non-conference doubleheader is set for 5 p.m.

· Dakota State faces another opponent from the GPAC next Wednesday.  The Trojans visit Dordt (Iowa) (15-14 overall record) in a non-conference doubleheader.  The first game is set for 5 p.m. at Open Space Park (498 4th Ave. NE) on the campus of Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.


· Dakota State (S.D.) will provide live stats/play-by-play of the softball four-game series with Presentation (S.D.) Thursday and Friday at Thue Softball Complex in Madison, S.D.

· Dakota State (S.D.) recorded a 4-game season series sweep over long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on April 11.

· The Trojans swept a doubleheader over the Tigers by the scores of 7-4 an 5-3, snapping DSU's six-game losing skid and their first home victories of the season.

· It was the first time since March 17, 2009 that Dakota State swept the season series with Dakota Wesleyan.  This year, DSU went 4-0 record against DWU (Trojans defeated Tigers earlier this season in the Presentation, S.D. Softball Dome Tournament).

· The Trojans raced to a 4-0 lead in the opening inning of the first game, highlighted by Jasmin Lucero's 3-RBI bases clearing double.  The Tigers answered back and knotted the game at 4-4 in the top fifth inning.

· DSU exploded for three runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning, highlighted by Peyton Brokiewicz's 2-RBI single and Emma Marsh's RBI double.

· Lucero had a double and drove in three runs in the game for the Trojans.  Brokiewicz added two singles and two BIs.  Kayla Schmell had who hits.  Marsh had a double and RBI.

· DWU jumped to a 1-0 early lead in the second game of the doubleheader, but the Trojans responded with four runs in the bottom second frame.

· Megan Zephier hit a 2-RBI single and added two runs caused by DWU's defensive error for 4-2 lead.

· Leading 4-3 in the bottom third, Lucero hit an RBI double to extend DSU's lead to 5-3.

· Both teams were unable to score in the final four innings of the game, securing a victory for the Trojans.

· Lucero had two hits in the game.  Zephier added a hit and drove in two runs. 

· Kelly Drake earned a pair of victories in the pitching circle for the Trojans.  She tossed four scoreless innings in the second game, limiting DWU to four hits.  Kaysea Luna started the game for DSU in both games.


· Dakota State (S.D.) kicked off their 10-game home stand last weekend, falling to North Star's conference leader Bellevue (Neb.) at Thue Softball Complex.

· The Trojans fell short as the Bruins held on to win the first game of the series 2-0 on April 8.  BU won the second game by the score of 10-2 in six innings.

· Bellevue won the first game of the doubleheader on April 9 by the score of 3-2, despite with a 2-run home run by DSU's Tatum Ronke in the bottom seventh inning.

· The Bruins closed out the four-game series with a 22-3 victory over the Trojans.


· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Wednesday, Dakota State (S.D.) ranks 19th in the nation in total doubles with 66 and 25th in doubles per game with an average of 1.8 doubles.

· The Trojans average 0.6 home runs per game, which is 37th-best average in the NAIA.

· DSU records a slugging percentage of .449.  Their slugging percentage ranks 44th-best in the nation.

· Peyton Brokiewicz ranks 18th in the NAIA in total doubles with 14 for Dakota State.  She is 37th in the nation in doubles per game with an average of 0.4 doubles.

· Nicole Stewart is 34th in the nation in home runs with eight home runs for the Trojans.

· Kelly Drake worked a total of 127 innings in the pitching circle this season for DSU, which is 26th-most in the NAIA this season.

· Slugging Percentage:  Nicole Stewart—.673 (10 doubles, 8 home runs)

· Triples:  Peyton Brokiewicz—2 triples

· Home Runs:  Nicole Stewart—8 home runs (34th in the nation)

· Total Bases:  Nicole Stewart—76 total bases

· Runs Scored:  Peyton Brokiewicz—28 runs

· Walks:  Kayla Schmell—10 walks

· Hit-by-Pitch:  Nicole Stewart—3 hit-by-pitches

· On-base percentage:  Nicole Stewart—.427 on-base percentage

· Stolen Bases:  Peyton Brokiewicz—8 stolen bases

· Earned Runs Average (ERA):  Kelly Drake—5.79 (105 earned runs in 127 innings)
