· The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan Softball team (14-35 overall record) looks to close out the regular-season by snapping their losing skid as they play a non-conference doubleheader.  

· The Trojans take on nationally-ranked No. 10 Morningside (Iowa) (33-8) in a doubleheader at Elizabeth and Irving Jensen Complex (1501 Morningside Ave.) in Sioux City, Iowa. 

· First game of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. with the second game to follow at approximately 3 p.m. 

· Sunday marks the softball regular-season schedule finale in the NAIA.  Conference postseason tournaments begin next weekend.

· Dakota State (S.D.) could not come up with a victory in the key North Star Athletic Association's (NSAA) four-game series versus Valley City State (N.D.) on April 22-23 at Thue Softball Complex.

· The Vikings won by the identical scores of 8-4 on the first day of the four-game series on April 22.  VCSU held on to defeat DSU 13-9 in the third of game on April 23, and closed out with a 15-0 win.

· The Trojans could not hold on to their 4-2 lead after the fifth inning in the NSAA's four-game series opener versus the Vikings.  VCSU outscored DSU 6-0 in the last two innings to secure the win.

· Jasmin Lucero led the Trojans with .571 batting average during the four-game series with the Vikings.  She was 8-of-14 at the plate with a double, triple, and a home run (slugging percentage of 1.000).  She drove in six runs.

· Kailee McFadden added a batting average of .417 for DSU (5-of-12 at the plate).  Nicole Stewart was .400 at the plate after going 6-of-15 with three doubles.

· McFadden scored four times during the series for the Trojans.  Lucero, Stewart, Tatum Ronke and Kayla Schmell each added three runs.

· Dakota State's Kelly Drake posted an earned run average of 4.36 in three pitching appearances versus Valley City State.  She tossed 17 2/3 innings during the series and gave up 24 runs (13 unearned runs).

· As a team, Dakota State recorded a batting average of .310 (35-of-113) in the series versus Valley City State.  The Trojans had seven doubles, two triples and a home run.

· DSU had an on-base percentage of .366, which included reaching on base by a walk ten times along with 35 hits.


· Dakota State (S.D.) and Mount Marty (S.D.) were not be able to move past second base in the first four-and-half innings in the first game of the doubleheader Monday evening at Thue Softball Complex on April 24.

· Neither teams did not score in seven innings of regulation play as the game was extended into extra innings.

· In the top tenth inning, MMC hit a pair of extra-base hits to produce one run.  The Lancers held off the Trojans by the score of 1-0 in 10-inning affair.

· Peyton Brokiewicz was 2-of-4 at the plate two singles for DSU.  Nicole Stewart added a double.  Kayla Schmell, Emma Marsh, Kelly Drake and Megan Zephier each had a single.

· Drake tossed a complete game (10 innings) in the pitching circle, despite the loss for the Trojans.  She recorded six strikeouts.


· According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Thursday, DSU produced 78 doubles this season, which is 23rd-most in the NAIA.

· The Trojans average 1.6 doubles per game, ranking 43rd-best in the nation.  DSU also ranks No. 49 in total hits with 394 hits.

· Kelly Drake is ninth in the NAIA for most innings pitched in the pitching circle for the Trojans.  She tossed 179 2/3 innings this season.

· Nicole Stewart is 38th in the nation in total doubles with 15 and 45th in total bases with 97 for Dakota State.  Stewart's 15 doubles tied for fourth-most doubles in a single season in DSU Trojan Softball record book.

· Batting Average:  Nicole Stewart—.377 (58-of-154) and Peyton Brokiewicz—.377 (57-of-151)

· Doubles:  Nicole Stewart—15 doubles

· Triples:  Peyton Brokiewicz—3 triples

· Home Runs:  Nicole Stewart—8 home runs

· Total Bases:  Nicole Stewart—97 total bases

· Runs Scored:  Tatum Ronke—33 runs
