MADISON, S.D. – Presentation (S.D.) pound out 19 hits – including 9 extra-base hits – Friday afternoon in 17-1 game one victory over Dakota State (S.D.) in the North Star Athletic Association's Baseball four-game series season finale at Flynn Field.  The Saints held on to defeat the Trojans 6-3 in the second game to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Dakota State fell to 2-28 overall record and 2-20 record in North Star conference.  Presentation is 12-35 overall record and 4-18 NSAA record.

Both teams conclude their regular-season schedule Saturday with another North Star doubleheader.  First game is set for 12 noon at Flynn Field.

Game 1 – Presentation (S.D.) 17, Dakota State (S.D.) 1 – FINAL/7 innings

The Saints scored all of their 17 runs in the first six innings of the nine-inning game before the Trojans scored once in the seventh inning.

Johnnie Morris led off the game with a single for PC.  Anthony Guzman hit a 2-run home run with one out to give the Saints a 2-0 early lead.

Presentation exploded for six runs in the top second inning to extend their lead to 8-0.  The Saints recorded two doubles as well as four singles in the inning.

PC added four more runs in the top fourth inning as their lead ballooned to 12-0.  Kyle Angielski, Josh Tabor and Morris each registered a double in the inning for the Saints.

Presentation made it 14-0 in the top fifth frame after Tabor hit a 2-run home run.  The Saints scored three times in the top sixth inning to make it 17-0.

Dakota State broke their scoring drought in the bottom seventh inning.  Smith Kemper led off with a single for the Trojans.  Garrett Mullins added a single with one out and advanced Kemper to second base.  Kemper advanced to third after a defensive error by PC on the same play.

David Kirby produced an RBI single to score Kemper as the Trojans scored their first run of the game.  DSU left two runners on base as the Saints secured the game in seven innings.

Mullins was 2-of-3 at the plate with two singles for Dakota State.  He swiped one base.  Kirby added a single and an RBI.  Zach Sutera and Kemper each had a single.

Tabor was 4-of-5 with two doubles, a home run, single and drove in a game-high five runs for Presentation.  Morris and Angielski each added two doubles, single and an RBI.  Josh Youngchild recorded a double, single, three RBIs and two stolen bases.  Guzman had a home run and two RBIs.  Tabor and Cimino each swiped one base.

The Saints left nine runners on base compared to the Trojans four runners left on base.

Mullins (L, 0-1) recorded the loss on the pitching mound for Dakota State.  He tossed 3 1/3 innings and allowed 12 runs on 14 hits.  Justin Mettling pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief, giving up two runs on two hits.  Jalen Boyd worked the last two innings of the game, yielding three unearned runs on three hits.

James Lewis (W, 1-6) earned a complete game victory for Presentation.  He limited the Trojans to one run on five hits.  He recorded 13 strikeouts in the game.

Game 2 – Presentation (S.D.) 6, Dakota State (S.D.) 3 – FINAL

After a scoreless first inning in the second game of the North Star's four-game series, Michael Cimino hit a 2-run home run to give the Saints a 2-0 lead in the top second inning.

The Trojans answered back with a run scored in the bottom second frame.  Connor Nagel reached on base by a walk.  He swiped to second base.  David Kirby added a walk with one out.  Dyshawn Proudlove hit a two-out RBI single to score Nagel as DSU cut PC's lead to 2-1.

Guzman hit a lead-off solo home run in the top third inning as Presentation extended their lead to 3-1.

Dakota State added a run in the bottom half of the third inning.  Sutera reached on base by a walk with one out.  He stole to second base.  Kemper followed up with a single and advanced Sutera to third base.  Nagel recorded an RBI sacrifice fly to score Sutera as the Trojans reduced their deficit down by one run at 3-2.

Presentation produced four hits in the first five batters of the top fifth inning, scoring three runs.  Guzman led off with a double, followed by Lane Hovde's bunt single to advance Guzman to third base.  Angielski followed up with an RBI single to score Guzman for PC's 4-2 lead. 

Jace Wyatt added a 2-RBI single to score Hovde and Angielski to extend PC's lead to 6-2 in the top fifth inning.

DSU scored once in the bottom sixth inning.  Nagel led off with a single.  A wild pitch committed by PC advanced Nagel to second base.  Nagel swiped to third base with two outs.  Saint Ryan Barker committed a balk to allow Nagel to score as the Trojans cut Saints' lead to 6-3.

Dakota State left one runner on base in the bottom seventh inning as the Saints secured the win.

Nagel had a single, RBI, walk and scored twice for the Trojans.  He also swiped two bases.  Proudlove added a single and an RBI.  Boyd, Sutera and Kemper each had a hit.  Kemper and Sutera each recorded a stolen base.

Guzman was 2-of-3 at the plate with a home run, double and an RBI for the Saints.  Angielski added a double, single and an RBI.  Cimino registered a home run, single and two RBIs.  Wyatt had a hit and two RBIs.  

PC outhit DSU 8-5 in the game.  The Saints left ten runners on base while the Trojans had five runners left on base.

Kirby (L, 0-9) took the loss after tossing 4 1/3 innings on the pitching mound for Dakota State.  He gave up six runs (one unearned) on six hits.  He struck out five PC's batters.  Trey Randel worked for 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.  He limited PC to two hits.

Connor Perry started the game on the pitching mound for Presentation.  He worked the first three innings and gave up two runs on two hits.  He recorded four strikeouts.  Giovanni Arieta (W, 2-4) recorded the win after pitching two scoreless innings, yielding the Trojans to just one hit.  Ryan Barker tossed the sixth inning and allowed one run on one hit.  Alex Lunneborg (S, 5) earned the save after pitching a scoreless seventh inning.
