JAMESTOWN (N.D.) – Dakota State (S.D.) competed on the first day of the North Star Athletic Association Women's Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championships Thursday afternoon at Al Cassell Field, hosted by the University of Jamestown (N.D.).
Dickinson State (N.D.) leads the team standings with 68 points after the first day of the conference meet. Jamestown (N.D.) is second with 53 points, followed by Viterbo (Wis.) third with 45 points. Valley City State (N.D.) is fourth with 20 points, while Waldorf (Iowa) is fifth with 12 points. Dakota State is sixth with eight points.
Kylie Martin earned a runner-up honor in the women's hammer throw for the Trojans. She tossed 48.36 meters (158 feet, 8 inches), earning North Star All-Conference honor after placing in the top three.
Jobi McCreary added an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw for DSU. She posted her personal-record throw distance of 35.32 meters (115 feet, 10 inches).
McCreary threw a javelin throw of 24.60 meters (80 feet, 8.5 inches) to place third in the first flight for the Trojans. Martin added a fifth-place finish in the first flight with a measurement of 19.06 meters (62 feet, 6.5 inches).
A total of 11 runners competed in the women's 100-meter dash prelims Thursday afternoon. BreeAna Olson placed fourth in the first heat with a time of 13.19 seconds for the Trojans, while Megan Schrempp was sixth with a time of 13.44 seconds. In the second heat, Breanna Adsit was fifth with a time of 13.72 seconds.
DSU's Olson advanced to the women's 100-meter dash finals scheduled for Friday at 1:55 p.m. after recording eighth-best overall time. She will be placed on Lane 8 in the finals.
Dakota State continues their action Friday with a full day of events in Jamestown, starting at 10 a.m.
