NAIA PRESS RELEASE

MADISON, S.D. – The NAIA has officially announced the complete entry list for the 66th Annual Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships and 37th Annual Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.  The events will be held at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala. on May 25-27.  The Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Sports Commission, in partnership with the city of Gulf Shores, are the hosts for the fourth straight year.

Dakota State (S.D.) will be sending nine athletes to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National meet next week.  The Trojans have eight men's athletes scheduled to compete at the national meet, the most athletes by a school in the men's division from the North Star Athletic Association conference.

Kylie Martin will kick off DSU with the women's hammer throw finals on Thursday (May 25) at 10 a.m. (Central Time).  A total of 30 throwers are slated to compete in the event, where Martin is seeded No. 23 with a mark of 48.98 meters (160 feet, 8 inches).  Her mark was a personal and DSU women's outdoor school record, which was set at the Sioux City Relays on April 21.

DSU's Karen Mayfield will not be running in this year's NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships women's full marathon due to an injury.  She qualified for the national meet after producing a qualifying time last December in the Fremont (Neb.) Half-Marathon race.

Four Trojan runners will run in the men's 4 x 800-meter relay trials on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. (CT).  The relay team members will include Corey Hermann, Cameron Harming, Alex Derr and Claudio Tejada in the race.  Mark Moeller is designated as the alternate with the relay team.

A total of 26 men's 4 x 800-meter relay teams are schedule to compete in the trials on Thursday.  Hermann, Harming, Derr and Moeller recorded the national qualifying time and North Star outdoor conference meet record time of 7 minutes, 48.97 seconds on May 11, winning the race in Jamestown, N.D.  That time is also the fourth fastest-time in the DSU men's outdoor track school record book.

The NAIA national men's 4 x 800-meter relay finals are set for Friday, May 26 at 5:50 p.m. (CT).

Moeller, three-time NAIA All-American including a pair of Indoor Track All-American 800-meter run at Dakota State, is scheduled to run in the men's 800-meter run next Friday at 2:20 p.m.  He is one of the 23 runners are slated to run in the trials.  Moeller is seeded No. 15 overall with a national qualifying time of 1 minute, 52.47 seconds (where he clocked that time during the 92nd Annual Howard Wood Dakota Relays on May 5 in Sioux Falls, S.D.).

The national men's 800-meter run finals are scheduled for Saturday, May 27 at 5 p.m. (CT).

Thirty discus throwers, including DSU's Tyler Lems, are scheduled to throw on Friday, May 26 at 5 p.m. (CT).  Lems posted the national qualifying mark of 47.32 meters (155 feet, 3 inches) on his very first throw at the Mustang Open in Marshall, Minn. on March 31.

Lems' throw is tied for the second-best throw in the DSU Men's Outdoor Track & field school record book with Craig Sufficool in 1985.  Gary Boettner holds the Trojans' school record mark of 157 feet, 8.5 inches set in 1969.

Dakota State's Maxwell Cruse and Braden Curnow will be running in the men's full marathon on Saturday, May 27 at 6 a.m. (CT).  A total of 77 runners are slated to compete in the marathon race.

Curnow ranks 25th overall in the men's marathon field with a time of 1 hour, 12 minutes and 33.38 seconds for the Trojans.  Cruse is 27th in the field with a seed time of 1 hour, 12 minutes and 36.68 seconds.

The NAIA will be recognizing the seniors track & field athletes on Friday at 5:15 p.m.  Martin, Moeller and Tejada are the seniors for DSU.

The national meet ends on Saturday, May 27 with the awards ceremony at approximately 6:50 p.m. (CT).

Stretch Internet, the NAIA's official video-streaming company of NAIA national championship events, will be broadcasting the events on www.NAIANetwork.com.
