YANKTON, S.D. - The Dakota State University cross country teams ran their last regular season meet Saturday at the Mount Marty Invitational.
The Trojan men's team, No. 19 in the latest NAIA Men's Cross Country National Poll, finished second behind No. 4 Concordia (Neb.), 36-70. Dakota State's total time at the meet was 2:10:44.60 compared to Concordia's 2:09:12.17. A total of 18 teams competed in the men's race.
A total of 162 runners ran in the men's event. Anthony Drealan finished third for the Trojans in 25 minutes and 29.22 seconds. Devon Berkness placed fourth in 25:42.39. Matt Fideler came in 11th with a time of 26:02.30. Tyler Van Peursem was 20th in 26:32.79.
Other Trojans place finishers were: Andrew Manning, 33rd, 26:57.90; Ben Harrison, 59th, 27:45.08; John Bintliff, 77th, 28:33.54; Kyle Sanderson, 29:10.19; Michael Hoffman, 91st, 29:20.10; Cody Foreman, 106th, 29:50.63; Andy Quenzer, 128th, 30:38.21 and Ethan Shafer, 157th, 35:04.23.
On the women's side, the Trojans had three runners competed in the event and was not included in the team score. Stephanie Warnke placed 14th in 19 minutes and 13.89 seconds. Samantha Warnke finished 21st in 19:35.87. Suzanne Swett came in 70th with a time of 20:57.35.
Dakota State cross country teams will have a week off before running in the DAC Championships Meet on Friday, Nov. 6. The meet will be held in Rapid City, S.D., hosted by South Dakota School of Mines.
