MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan men's basketball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 season.  The Trojans will open the campaign at home (DSU Fieldhouse) in the two-day tournament on the last weekend in October.

Dakota State is scheduled to play a scrimmage against NCAA Division II South Dakota Mines with a site and time to be determined later.

Ninth-year head coach Gary Garner and his squad will open at home in the Dakota State Tournament on Oct. 28, opening with Doane (Neb.)-Presentation (S.D.) game at 6 p.m., followed by DSU hosting Oak Hills (Minn.) at 8 p.m.  On Oct. 29, PC takes on Oak Hills at 1 p.m. while the Trojans play Doane at 3 p.m.

DSU plays its first road game of the 2017-18 season at Dordt (Iowa) on Nov. 1 in Sioux Center.

Dakota State is the host team for the 2nd Annual NAIA/South Dakota Pentagon Classic, featuring all four NAIA South Dakota schools to be played at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.  The Trojans take on long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Nov. 5 and Mount Marty (S.D.) on Nov. 6.  Both games are scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Heritage Court.

DSU returns home for a three-game home stand at DSU Fieldhouse, starting on Nov. 8 versus Midland (Neb.).  The Trojans stay home for a contest versus Trinity Bible (N.D.) on Nov. 14 before wrapping up the three-home stand versus NAIA Division II National Tournament qualifier and 2017 Great Plains Athletic Conference Regular-Season Champion Briar Cliff (Iowa) on Nov. 21.

Dakota State begins their North Star Athletic Association conference season after Thanksgiving break.  DSU will be at home six times of the nine games scheduled during the month of December. 

The Trojans will play their first six North Star conference games at DSU Fieldhouse, starting with Jamestown (N.D.) on Dec. 1 and Presentation (S.D.) on Dec. 3.

DSU plays a 16-game North Star conference schedule with home and away games against other eight NSAA schools.

The Trojans step aside their conference play with a non-conference match-up at Northwestern (Iowa) on Dec. 9 in Orange City.

Dakota State comes back home for North Star conference action versus Bellevue (Neb.) on Dec. 16 and Mayville State (N.D.) on Dec. 17.  DSU hosts Grand View (Iowa) in a non-conference game before Christmas break on Dec. 20.

The Trojans play their final two games in the 2017 portion of the schedule at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D. on Dec. 28-29.  The Trojans face Dordt on the first day of the classic (Dec. 28), while taking on the host-team Dakota Wesleyan on the second day (Dec. 29).

DSU begins their 2018 portion of the schedule with three games at DSU Fieldhouse.  Dakota State returns back to North Star conference action versus Dickinson State (N.D.) on Jan. 5 and Valley City State (N.D.) on Jan. 6.  The Trojans conclude their three-game home stand versus in-state rival Mount Marty on Jan. 9.

Dakota State will be away from the DSU Fieldhouse for the next three straight weekends in January.  DSU starts their road trip at Viterbo (Wis.) on Jan. 12 and Waldorf (Iowa) on Jan. 13.

The Trojans kick off the second-half of the North Star conference schedule at Presentation on Jan. 19 and Jamestown on Jan. 20.  DSU concludes their six-game North Star road trip with a weekend trip in North Dakota, visiting Valley City State on Jan. 26 and Dickinson State on Jan. 27.

Dakota State comes back home on Feb. 2 versus Viterbo and Waldorf on Feb. 3.  The Trojans play at Mayville State on Feb. 9 before coming back home for the final home regular-season non-conference game versus Grace (Neb.) on Feb. 10.

DSU concludes their 2017-18 regular-season schedule with a road trip to Bellevue on Feb. 17.

The North Star Athletic Association conference postseason tournament kicks off with four opening round games on Feb. 22, with the winners moving on to the semifinals round on Feb. 24.  The NSAA Postseason championship game is slated for Feb. 26 at the highest remaining seed.

The winner of the North Star postseason tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Tournament, to be held in Point Lookout, Mo. on March 7-13.
