MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University Athletic Department would like to say a huge thank you to all the fans that made the 2nd Annual Ag Bowl game such a success.  A record-breaking attendance of 5,500 fans saw the Trojans upset No. 17-ranked Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in a high-scoring affair 56-39.

The game was also televised live on Midco Sports Network channel, the first time that DSU was featured live on TV.  You can watch the game again on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2MVuYw_X8o&feature=youtu.be.

The tailgate on the east side of the Trojan Field's parking lot also broke the previous record for attendance.  Over 1,200 people attended the tailgate area that featured a barbecue meal cooked by Terry Schultz and Mustang Seed Chuck Wagon Cooker.  There were Ag exhibitions for the adults and games for the kids including an archery and air gun stand by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks.  The 'Trojan Walk' is a new tradition where the DSU Football team walks by the tailgate area on their way to the football stadium.

Prior to national anthem, Jeff Reinke and his team, Skydive Adventures from Sioux Falls, S.D., landed on the football field from 10,000 feet above air.  The South Dakota National Guards presented colors during the national anthem.  Ag Bowl Honorary Captain Landon 'Pete' Potter from Winfred, S.D. did the coin toss prior to kick-off.

Dakota State would like to say thank you to the following sponsors of the 2nd Annual Ag Bowl:  Lake County International, Mustang Seeds, Prostrollo's Auto Mall, State Farm Insurance – Randy Schaefer, Sunshine Foods, East River Electric Power Coop, First Bank & Trust, Madison Farmer's Elevator, Helena Chemical, Farmer Ag Center, F & M Coop Oil, Sioux Valley Energy, the Manitou Group – Gehl Company, Kibble Equipment, 2nd Street Diner, the Madison Chamber Ag Committee and the Trojan Athletic Club.

The DSU Athletic Department would also like to say thank you to the two sponsors--Dr. Ashley Crabtree with Madison Vision Clinic and Dr. Troy Keyes with Madison Family Dental--for their support of the KidZone located on the eas end of the DSU bleachers.

Sunshine Foods provided four $100 gift cards that were raffled off throughout the football game.  The winners were Tavin Irvine, Hunter Hazen, Maddie Polzin and Ben Brooks.

Halftime entertainment was proved by the Madison High School Marching Band and Prostrollo Auto Mall with their 'Kicking for Cash' contest.

Dakota State's next home football game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16.  It will be the North Star Athletic Association conference opener for the Trojans and they will play Mayville State (N.D.).  Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.  This will be Parent's Night for the football and cross country teams.

Our featured sponsor will be Rosebud Wood Products and owner Brian Kern.  Please join us for another great evening of tailgating and football.
