MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University Athletic Department would like to say a huge thank you to all the fans that made the 2nd Annual Ag Bowl game such a success.  A record-breaking attendance of 5,500 fans saw the Trojans upset No. 17-ranked Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in a high-scoring affair 56-39.

The game was also televised live on Midco Sports Network channel, the first time that DSU was featured live on TV.  You can watch the game again on

The tailgate on the east side of the Trojan Field's parking lot also broke the previous record for attendance.  Over 1,200 people attended the tailgate area that featured a barbecue meal cooked by Terry Schultz and Mustang Seed Chuck Wagon Cooker.  There were Ag exhibitions for the adults and games for the kids including an archery and air gun stand by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks.  The 'Trojan Walk' is a new tradition where the DSU Football team walks by the tailgate area on their way to the football stadium.

Prior to national anthem, Jeff Reinke and his team, Skydive Adventures from Sioux Falls, S.D., landed on the football field from 10,000 feet above air.  The South Dakota National Guards presented colors during the national anthem.  Ag Bowl Honorary Captain Landon 'Pete' Potter from Winfred, S.D. did the coin toss prior to kick-off.
