SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Dakota State University women's cross country team kicked off their 2017 season Friday evening, running 'under the lights' in the Augustana (S.D.) Twilight meet.  The meet featured a total of 310 runners from all collegiate levels, including NCAA Division I, II, III schools as well as NAIA schools.

The Trojans placed 26th overall as a team and was the top North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) place-finisher in the meet (Waldorf, Iowa placed 29th overall in the 30-teams field).  NCAA Division I South Dakota won the team title.

Six different DSU women's runners made their collegiate debut Friday evening.  Christianna Green, who ran as an unattached runner for Dakota State, finished 160th overall with a time of 20 minutes, 52.70 seconds.  Jacia Christiansen was 170th with a time of 20:58.65.

Kirsten Paetow clocked a time of 22 minutes, 12.51 seconds to finish 237th overall for the Trojans.  Andrea Bryant placed 241st with a time of 22:18.89.  Sophomore Ashley Robinson ran a time of 22:29.17 for a 247th-place finish, followed by Mallory Aughenbaugh's 238th place finish in 22:37.35.

Dakota State returns back to action at home next Saturday (Sept. 9).  The Trojans host the 15th Annual Herb Blakley Invitational at the Madison Country Club.  Women's race is slated to start at 10:30 a.m.
