MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) hosted the 15th Annual Herb Blakely Invitational Saturday morning at the Madison Country Club.  The Trojans finished third in the men's 8K race that saw a total of 26 runners.  DSU had a pair of runners placed in the 'Top 15'.

A pair of NCAA Division II schools finished in the top two.  Southwest Minnesota State claimed the team title with a score of 24, followed by Northern State (S.D.) second with a score of 41.  DSU was third with 63 points, while Trinity Bible (N.D.) was fourth with 100 points.

Alex Auch, an unattached runner, won the men's race with a time of 26 minutes, 41 seconds. 

Freshman Matthew Dunn earned a ninth-place finish for Dakota State.  He clocked a time of 28 minutes, 32 seconds in the race.  Cameron Harming ran a time of 28 minutes, 48 seconds to finish 11th.

Maxwell Cruse, who ran as an unattached runner for DSU, was 12th with a time of 28 minutes, 51 seconds.  Marlowe LaRoche was 17th in 32 minutes, 17 seconds.  Jonathan Lein recorded a time of 32 minutes, 35 seconds for 19th-place finish, followed by Mattheu Cox with a 20th-place finish in 32:54.

Dakota State takes a week off before returning back to action on Saturday, Sept. 23.  The Trojans run in the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division I Minnesota.  The cross country meet is slated to take place in Falcon Heights, Minn.
