(Madison, SD) - The Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) has selected Dakota State's Tyler Van Peursem as Male Cross Country Runner of the Week (October 13-19).
Van Peursem, junior from Sioux Falls, SD, finished second overall at the Briar Cliff Invitational last Saturday, October 11, 2008 in McCook Lake, SD. He covered the 8000 meter race in 26 minutes and 22 seconds, one minute and 20 seconds improvement from his time at the race last season. Van Peursem finished behind the meet individual champions, Chris Heezen, who is the former NAIA All-American from Dakota State. The Trojans men's cross country team finished fourth at the Briar Cliff Invitational.
Tyler is the son of Kevin and Shelly Van Peursem of Sioux Falls, SD, and is majoring in Computer Security at Dakota State University.
Dakota State men's and women's cross country teams will be idle this week and returns back to action on Saturday, October 25th, competing in the Graphic Edge Invitational in Vermillion, SD. On Saturday, November 8th, Dakota State University will be hosting the DAC Conference Championships at the Madison Country Club.
