Cross Country - Thu, Jan. 29, 2009

(Madison, SD) - Dakota State University's cross country and track alum Chris Heezen traveled to Arizona to compete in the sixth annual P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon and ½ Marathon on Sunday, January 18th.  With 28,406 total finishers (6,419 marathon; 21,987 half), the Arizona event moves back atop the list for most combined marathon and half-marathon finishers in the world.  The marathon features from countries from all over the world.

Heezen ran in the men's marathon and finished 16th overall with a time of 2:28.49.  He finished 1st overall in the top marathon finishers by age groups (18-24).  Heezen is one of the top finishers from United States to finish in the top 20.

Chris is the son of Jerry and Peggy Heezen of Miller, SD.  He was a two-time NAIA All-American in Outdoor Track and one-time All-American in cross country at Dakota State University.
