MADISON, S.D. - Jamestown (N.D.) earned a 36-34 halftime lead over Dakota State (S.D.) Saturday evening at DSU Fieldhouse.  The Trojans used their hot second-half surge to defeat the Jimmies by the score of 74-62, and raised DSU's home record to 9-2 this season.

Dakota State, which received votes' recognition to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball national poll for the seventh consecutive week, lifted their overall record to 17-7 and 3-2 in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference record.  DSU won their third straight game.

Jamestown dropped their overall record to 11-15 and 2-5 in the A.I.I.  JC is 2-12 on the road this season after the loss to the Trojans.

With the score tied at 21-21 with eight minutes and 23 seconds left in the first-half, DSU used an 11-4 scoring run to earn a seven-point lead (32-25) with 4:08 left before intermission.

The Jimmies closed the first-half with an 11-2 run to earn a slim two-point halftime lead.

JC shot 50 percent from the field in the first twenty minutes of the game (14-for-28) compared to the Trojans' 46.4 percent (13-for-28).

Dakota State opened the second-half with a 9-3 run (all by 3-pointers from John Lamb and Luke Lamb) to regain their lead at 43-41 with 17:30 left.

At 51-50, the Trojans went on a 17-5 scoring tear to grab the biggest lead of the game at 68-55 with 1:04 remaining.

Jamestown could get no closer than nine points on two occasions (70-61 with 46 seconds left and 71-62 with 35 seconds remaining) as DSU secured the victory.

DSU shot 42.9 percent from the field in the final twenty minutes of the game (42.9 percent).  The Jimies were held to a dismal 28 percent shooting from the field (7-for-25).

Luke Lamb and Tyrone Gordon, Jr. each scored 14 points for the Trojans.  Yusuf Vinson added 12 points.  John Lamb had 10 points.

Vinson pulled down eight rebounds for DSU.  Luke Lamb added seven rebounds.

Gordon, Jr. and John Lamb each produced five assists for Dakota State.  Vinson, Gordon, Jr. and John Lamb each had two steals.

Breshion Tucker scored 14 points for JC.  Mark Hoge added 12 points.  Davon Thomas had 11 points.

Jesse Behm scored nine points and earned six rebounds off the bench for the Jimmies.  Tucker and Thomas each had five rebounds.

Tucker, Taylor Newton and Hoge each dished out three assists.

Dakota State shot an overall 44.6 percent from the field (25-for-56).  The Jimmies shot 39.6 percent (21-for-53).  The Trojans made seven 3-pointers in 17 attempts (41.2 percent), while JC was 6-for-26 from the 3-point range (23.1 percent).

DSU converted 17 free-throws in 28 attempts (60.7 percent).  Jamestown was 14-for-23 from the free-throw line (60.9 percent).

The Trojans outrebounded the Jimmies 04-35.

Dakota State outscored Jamestown 9-2 in fast-break points, 23-14 in points off turnovers, 32-16 inside the paint and 14-8 in second-chance points.  Both teams had 20 points off the bench.

DSU and JC will meet for the third meeting of the season on Feb. 13 in Jamestown.

Dakota State plays their final home regular-season game on Wednesday night.  The Trojans entertain Mayville State (N.D.) in an A.I.I. conference game.  Fans are encouraged to wear blue clothing/apparel to help raise cancer awareness.  DSU's seniors will be recognized after the conclusion of the women's game.  Tip-off from the DSU Fieldhouse is set for 7:30 p.m.
