THIS WEEK: The Dakota State University baseball team (5-14 overall record, 0-0 Association of Independent Institutions conference record) returns back to action this weekend for the first time since March 17. The Trojans will be playing six games in the next five days, where four of the six games will be held in Lennox, S.D.
DSU FACES A.I.I. CONFERENCE TEAMS: Dakota State will be facing two A.I.I. conference teams during the five-day stretch. The Trojans face Mayville State (N.D.) (11-1-1, 0-0 A.I.I.) in a four-game series on Friday and Saturday. On Tuesday, DSU will play Jamestown (N.D.) (8-8, 0-0 A.I.I.) in a doubleheader. All games will be held in Lennox, S.D. since the DSU's baseball home fieldâ€”Flynn Fieldâ€”are not ready yet due to wet playing field conditions.
TROJANS CONTINUES ROAD ACTION: The Trojans had played the first 19 games either on the road or on neutral sites this season. Dakota State will travel to in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) on Monday in a non-conference doubleheader. The first game of the doubleheader is set for 3 p.m. at the Riverside Park in Yankton, S.D.
ANYELO ROMAN SETS HOME RUN RECORD: Anyelo Roman set a new DSU baseball record for most career home runs. He smashed his 19th career home run in an 8-0 victory over Hastings (Neb.) in the second game of the doubleheader on March 16 in Aurora, Neb. The previous old record was set by Shea Tonkin with 18 where he played with the Trojans from 2005 through 2007.
REGIONALLY SPEAKING: In the first weekly A.I.I.-Frontier ranking, Dakota State is ranked No. 6 in the standings. Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) is currently on the top of the standings with an overall record of 24-7, followed by Mayville State (11-1-1) at No. 2. Dickinson State (N.D.) is at No. 3 with an 11-7 overall record. Jamestown (8-8) is fourth and Valley City State (N.D.) (8-11) is fifth in the standings. The standings is used to determine the seeding for the upcoming unaffiliated A.I.I./Frontier conference tournament, hosted by Jamestown (N.D.) on May 1-4 in Jamestown, N.D. All teams, except Lewis-Clark State (host bid for the Avista-NAIA World Series) will be competing in the conference tournament.
DSU QUICK LEADERS: Anyelo Roman leads the Trojans' offense attack with 18 hits and 18 runs batted in (RBIs). Anyelo Roman and Ryan Bourcier each have two home runs this season for the Trojans. Danny Flahie leads the team with .308 batting average and recorded five doubles. Chaz Palmer produces 10 RBIs and a batting average of .302. Rays Roman leads the team with nine stolen bases and 14 runs scored. Austin Weber records two pitching victories with an earned average run of 2.95. Anyelo Roman and Weber each have one save. Weber and Kevin Madera each recorded 14 strikeouts on the mound.

First pitch at the Flynn Field will be announced on a later date. Both teams will play in Sioux City, Iowa on April 11 for another nine-inning game, starting at 3 p.m.
