KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Dakota State University men's basketball team continues to gain recognition to the latest NAIA Division II Men's Basketball national poll. The fourth edition of the national poll was released on Monday afternoon
The top four spots remained the same from the last national poll, which was announced on Dec. 12, 2011. Northwood (Fla.) is at No. 1 with 374 points with 14 first-place votes, Dordt at No. 2 with 360 points, Oregon Tech at No. 3 with 348 points and Davenport (Mich.) at No. 4 with 336 points.
Dakota State is currently 10-6 overall record and received three points (two more points from the previous national poll). The Trojans went 3-2 since Dec. 17, dropping two contests against nationally-ranked teams Bellevue (then-No. 9) 85-61 on Dec. 17 and Jamestown (then-No. 13) 58-51 on Jan. 3.
DSU will face two teams from the NAIA's 'Top 10' this week, sixth and seventh times this season that Dakota State had faced a nationally-ranked team. The Trojans travel to Sioux Center, Iowa to take on No. 2 Dordt. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at the DeWitt Gymnasium. On Saturday evening, Dakota State returns home to host No. 10 Jamestown in both teams' second meeting of the season. The starting game time is set for 6 p.m., or approximately 25 minutes after the completion of the women's game at DSU Fieldhouse.
The fifth edition of the national poll will be released on Jan. 16.
