CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Dakota State University baseball team returned back to action Friday evening, visiting Campbellsville (Ky.) at the HIG Field. The Trojans rallied back to tie the game in the ninth inning and took a one-run lead in the 10th inning, but the Tigers scored twice in the bottom 10th inning for a 4-3 victory.
Dakota State lost their sixth straight game and dropped their overall record to 3-10. Campbellsville, a member of the Mid-South Conference, improved their overall record to 10-4.
Campbellsville took the first lead of the game in the opening inning. Patrick McMeel reached on base by a walk. Levi McCamishl, courtesy runner for McMeel, stole for second base. Josh Potter hit an RBI single to score McCamishl to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
With a runner on second base (Kyle Braun) with one out in the top third frame, DSU's Nathan Wienke produced an RBI single to score Braun to tie the game at 1-1.
Aaron Schwoebel recorded an RBI single to score Potter as the Tigers gained a 2-1 lead in the bottom seventh inning.
Danny Flahie opened the top ninth inning with a double for the Trojans. Ryan Bourcier hit a ground out to advance Flahie to third base. Flahie scored from CU's wild pitch from Adam Hewey as DSU tied the game at 2.

After DSU opened the top 10th inning with two outs, Rays Roman and Kyle Holland hit back-to-back singles. With runners on third and first bases, Rays Roman scored by a passed ball by Keaton Neeb to give DSU a 3-2 lead.
With two on and one out in the bottom 10th frame, CU's Travis Hayes loaded the bases with an out, setting up an RBI single from Tanner Nielsen. With the game tied and the bases still juiced, Michael Bush crushed a ball to the warning track to center, allowing Ryan Squires to end on the game-winning sac fly.
Holland and Chaz Palmer each had two singles for Dakota State. Flahie added a double. Rays Roman, Kevin Madera and Braun each had a hit. Wieneke had a single and an RBI.
Potter and Schwoebel led the Tigers with two singles. Nielsen, Bush, Potter and Schwoebel each had an RBI.
The Trojans outhit CU 9-8.
DSU left six runners on base. Campbellsville had five runners left on base.
Michael Crain started the game for the Trojans as he worked for 6 1/3 innings. He allowed two runs on five hits. Drew Sweeter tossed 2 2/3 innings in relief. He limited the Tigers to one hit. Austin Weber (1-2) took the loss as he pitched 2/3 innings. He gave up two runs on two hits.
McMeel tossed seven innings on the mount for the Tigers. He gave up one run on five hits. He struck out 11 DSU's batters. Jacob Phillips pitched a shutout eighth inning and recorded two strikeouts. Allen Hewey (2-0) pitched two innings in relief. He allowed two runs (one unearned)on four hits.
Dakota State looks to bounce back in the winning column Saturday as they play a doubleheader with Campbellsville. The first game of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. (Central Time)/12 p.m. (Eastern Time) at the HIG Field.
