MADISON, S.D. - Sophomore third baseman Brittany Hill of Dakota State University (S.D.) was selected to the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.)/Frontier Softball Player of the Year honor. The postseason honors were announced on Monday afternoon.
Hill recently earned an All-Conference honor for her second consecutive year at DSU. She produced an impressive .500 batting average, which is a new Trojan single season record book for best batting average. Hill accumulated a total of 59 hits in 118 plate appearances. She had 13 doubles, two triples and three home runs.
Hill amassed a total of 39 runs batted in (RBIs) for the Trojans. She recorded a slugging percentage of .512 and an on-base percentage of .512.
According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Tuesday, Hill ranks third in the nation in hits per game (1.7) and batting average (.500). She is 19th in the nation in doubles per game (0.4), 22nd in total bases per game (2.5) and 26th in RBIs per game (1.1).
Defensively, Hill recorded a total of 143 chances, 101 put-outs and 32 assists in 34 games this season. She had a fielding percentage of .930.
Brittany is the daughter of Rod and Laurie Hill of Chino, Calif.
