YORK, Neb. - Dakota State traveled to Miller Park Friday evening to begin their four-game softball series with York College, a member of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Panthers swept the Trojans by the scores of 3-0 and 7-2.
Dakota State dropped their sixth straight game and dipped their overall record to 12-21. York improved their record to 16-21.
Game 1 - York (Neb.) 3, Dakota State 0
With bases loaded and no out situation for the Panthers in the bottom second inning, Maicey Madden hit a 2-RBI single to give York a 2-0 lead.
Katelyn Graeser added an RBI single in the bottom third inning to extend Panthers' lead to 3-0.
Dakota State was unable to score in the final inning as they left two runners on base.
Taylor Mackey, Brittany Tebbe ad Lexy Miller each had a single for DSU.
Madden produced a single and two RBIs for York. Graeser added a single and an RBI. Britney Curry, Corrine Pearl, Riannon Romero and Jessie Griffith each had a single.
York left eight runners on base in the game. DSU had seven runners left on base.
Mackey (6-13) took the loss for the Trojans. She tossed six innings and allowed three runs (one unearned) on six hits.
Taby Cramer (5-7) pitched a complete game victory for the Panthers. She limited the Trojans to three hits.
Game 2 - York (Neb.) 7, Dakota State 2
York opened the bottom first frame with two runs scored. Pearl hit an RBI single with two outs for the first run of the game. Romero added an RBI double to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead.
Dakota State answered back with two runs in the top of the second inning. With bases loaded and two outs situation for the Trojans, Renaye Gamson recorded a 2-RBI single to score Jessica McLane and Alisa Balesteri.
York regained their lead with one run scored in the bottom second frame for a 3-2 lead.
The Panthers produced three runs in the fourth inning to expand their lead to 6-2.
Curry hit an RBI double to extend York's lead to 7-2 in the bottom fifth inning.
DSU was unable to score in the final two innings of the game as the Panthers secured the victory.
Gamson was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs for the Trojans. Neiman added a double and a single. Mackey had a double. McLane, Balesteri and Miller each recorded a single.
Lexi Paspalof and Tiffany Cole went 3-for-3 at the plate for York. Romero added a double, a single and produced two RBIs. Pearl and Curry each had a hit and recorded two RBIs. Arica Reeves had a single.
The Panthers outhit the Trojans 11-8.
York left nine runners on bases. DSU had six runners left on base.
Brittany Hill (2-3) recorded the loss for the Trojans. She pitched two innings and allowed three runs on four hits. Mackey worked for four innings in relief. She gave up four runs on seven hits.
Tiffany Cole (6-12) notched the win for the Panthers. She tossed six innings and allowed two runs on eight hits. Jessie Griffith worked the seventh inning in relief.
Dakota State looks to snap their losing skid as they conclude their four-game series with York Saturday. The doubleheader is set to start at 10 a.m. at Miller Park in York, Neb.
